I'm heading to WA after the Nationals.  There's a total solar eclipse on April 20, and I need to get to Exmouth by April 18.

So what's the WA contingent doing for the return trip?  My rough plans are -

Monday 10: Peterborough
Tuesday 11: Streaky Bay or Ceduna
Wednesday 12: Eucla or Madura
Thursday 13: Fraser Range (if open) or Norseman
Friday 14: Merredin
Saturday 15: Perth

Is it feasible to drive from Perth to Exmouth in two days?  Maybe three days would be better: Geraldton/Northampton, then Carnarvon, assuming I can get motel rooms.

Ironically, I will be in Sydney from 12th to 19th April. Was hoping to check progress on the rust work. I’ll have to go and annoy someone else…

G'day Rob

That looks like a do-able cruise to me. I would do 3 days Perth to Exmouth. I don't like racing from A to B to much
Have done it all before.
My Nats diaries are on here somewhere (Minus lots of pictures !!!) that show how we normally do it.

Cathy and I can't make it to the Nats this year  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry
We could have cruised back with you

I don't think any WA guys are driving Huh

 Cool Cool Cool

PS do a diary of your trip for us please.  It makes the trip more fun Cheesy

I've just booked (I think) the last room at Wooramel River Resort for the 17th; and because the resort's reception closes at 5:30 pm, I'll try to get a room in Geraldton or Northampton on the 16th.  So three days to drive from Perth to Exmouth sounds like a better option.

I dare say you are driving both ways, but thought I should make you aware of the back loading  concession on the train in any case. Quite a bit cheaper to send you car Perth to Adelaide than the other way.

It appears that the Mad Max Museum's not going to be open on Easter Monday.  Not even with a guaranteed turnout of eighty to a hundred.

So I'll amend my itinerary -

Wednesday 5: Sydney - Cobar
Thursday 6: Cobar - Broken Hill

Monday 10: Broken Hill - Wudinna (about 750 km)
Tuesday 11: Wudinna - Eucla (about 750 km)
Wednesday 12: Eucla - Norseman (about 750 km)
Thursday 13: Norseman - Perth (about 700 km)

Sunday 16: Perth - Carnamah or Three Springs or Greenough or Walkaway
Monday 17: near Geraldton - Wooramel
Tuesday 18: Wooramel - Exmouth

Saturday 22: Exmouth - Overlander
Sunday 23: Overlander - Perth

Friday 4: (who knows where) - Parkes
Sunday 6: Parkes - Sydney
