I made some enquiries about a radiator on Gumtree from a SA radiator business.
The part number looks to be an FJ model. The owner has replaced the core with new 1" tubes.
I had been looking at having my unit redone by Natrad locally, at greater cost.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had my radiator pulled apart cleaned and 3 small holes repaired by HOLDEN HILL RADIATORS about September ,

the unit was 70 % blocked . Very happy with the service and price .

cheers Phil.

I'll second what Phil says.  If you still have your original radiator core, find a radiator shop which can pull the tanks off and clean the tubes out.  The tubes in replacement cores are much smaller than in the original cores, so run a much greater risk of blockages from small pieces of scale.

But a word of warning: FX-FJ radiators are about 2" taller than FE-EK radiators, even though the top and bottom tanks are interchangeable.
FX radiators have six mounting holes.  FJ radiators have four, but are designed for rubber insulators, so the mounting tabs were moved rearwards about an inch.
FE-EK radiators have four mounting holes.

Hope this helps, rather than confuses.

In the photo on gumtree, what are the two fittings on each side of the top tank?

He said he had provided for cabling, so I assume that's what they are.
It was an order that wasn't collected.

Hi,
Need to get a pressure test done on my spare radiator.
Can anyone recommend a good workshop in the inner or south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, who would be able to do the job, and a ‘leak repair’, should it be found to be necessary?
Thanks,
