I have done quite a lot and prefer the directness of the linkage . The trick is to shorten the commodore shifter lever by the same ratio as you shorten the box linkage , this will allow you to lower the shifter and get closer to the box . These shifters I have made using the early isolator switch [external on the side of the stick] and the first is home made out of a tent peg and Arial bezel on the VN_VR shifter base and the other is obviously later pistol grip style .
