Day 8

Another day on The Gold Coast. 😊
Another day at Theme Parks 😃


Here we are making our way to Movie World

It feels a lot like drivng the FC at speed through the hills on the Tassie trip 😲😲😲

Reminiscing about the 70's. When I cruised around in a van like this 😚

(except mine was a different colour and didn't have a dog hanging out the roof)


Just had dinner at La Rustica. A tiny Italian place just around the corner. It was a really nice meal with great service. I'm starting to feel sorry for the poor waiters when the nine of us start ordering.😦

surferboy got the chance to relax and put his feet up and have a grandpa nap this morning while the kids go souvenir shopping. He will take the grandkids to the beach for surfing lessons when they get back.

Day nine

Slept in (obviously 😉)
We don't have a parking space at our appartment. So I have to keep driving it around the block every 30 minutes and putting it back in my favourite parking spot


Managed to catch up and do some surfing (stop laughing Lorene) with the locals

Rest day is nearly over. Need to get a goods night sleep before we hit the parks again tomorrow

Catching up

Went to the beach. Everyone was suprised how fine the sand is ! ....    And how hard it is to get off. Still brushing and washing the little uns hours later.

Took another of those Surfers Paradise  'must do' photos

The grandkids built sand sculptures

And I helped to knock them down


Managed to go surfing and I gave the Grandkids surfing lessons. (Stop laughing Lorene 😉). now they can ride a surfboard as good as I can... here's the proof


Saw a couple of the guys heading to Ttoowwoommbbaa in the carpark


Doesn't appear that we will get a 'rest' day 😪😆

Unless I slept on the sofa and this is day 11 😞😩😴😪 ( I am all confused )

Went somewhere I could pick up another hat badge


Can you guess who we caught up with ?

He's found his way out of Mt Gambier 😉😆  and is trying to find his way around Wet & Wild. 😆😆😆

Kids did some bodyboarding

I was going to do some surfing and take a photo for proof.
But the swell dropped 😔😢
Maybe I'll find time tomorrow morning before we leave

Day 11

Kids flew home.
We're on our way to the Nats ☺

Managed to dodge all the toll roads 😆
I was hoping the petrol would be 1/2 the  price if you pay extra just to drive along the road. (But it wasn't 😟)
Didn't realize we would be on a multi laned highway for the whole trip 🚓🚕🚗🚒🚓🚚🚕🚌🚗🚕🚚🚚🚓🚑🚚🚌🚚🚙🚕🚗🚓🚓🚕🚓🚙🚚🚒🚗🚕🚙

Did the usual thing on arriving in a new town..... visit a new Coles store. and restock the pantry.
Caught up with some of the WA crew for dinner before

Day twelve

The 2016 FE & FC Nats begin 😆😆😆

Been doing more talking than photo taking. But heres a couple...

Dinner was really good
And posh. We had knives and forks

The spoon was for the fruit & ice cream dessert 😊

Was good to catch up with Hotlips and Greg, but I hardly recognized them with their new hair styles 😉😆

It's day 13
Show & Shine day

Got the wagon all nice and shiny 😊


And parked it on the paddock with the other 90+ cars

Nice park right on the edge of the town centre.

Walked ( & walked & walked) across  town to meet Cathy & the club members for lunch. ( thats where the Myer store was ). (Then walked & walked & walked all the way back 😥)

RET was nice enough to let crippled Cathy 😉😚borrow his chair


The rain held off until we we're just leaving the park

Then a short break (not enough time for Caty to have her nanna nap 😪😪😪)
Then it's Rock & Roll night

 It's getting late... my eyes keep closing... & the screens going blurry.   So I'm off to bed

It's day fourteen (ALREADY😮!?)

 We got Easter eggs 😊😃😆
As we left Nats HQ to cruise to Pittsworth for sports day



It looked a bit like this for a short time. But it cleared up and it became the classic cruise

And the classic sports carpark


And we had the classic Nats Food Queue for lunch

(to be honest this was the only pic of a line that i got )I must congratulate the Queenslanders with the food service all weekend👌👍

Day 15

Bugger.. the wagon was on 7 and I watched 9 😔

Off to Brisbane in the morning before the wagon takes the lazy way home and we jump on plane ( unless the airport strike stops us 😯😭)

Day 16

Heading home starts today. (Heading to Brisbane at least)

One last stop for collectables on our road trip. 😊 (a bit too pricey for my $5.oo budget 😞)

Time to relax with a coffee while Cathy unpacks

The birth is due any day soon 😆. I must remember to suck it in when anybody points a camera in my direction.😀
It's a nice evening for a walk along the river and a cheap meal from the local takeaway place

17 ?

Time to wind down today. Doing the touristy thing in Brisbane and getting those last minute souvenirs. The wagon stays in the car park ( I don't do any driving today 😭)

Thought about buying some Aussie tea towels
but I could only find these Pommy ones 😉😆
Did all the usual tourist selfies

Got back to our room just before the Thunderstorm hit !
It WAS going to be an EARLY, QUIET night.
Until they started pumping out the flooded building site across the road. AND THEN... some bright spark decided to dig up the concrete driveway on the other building site next door with a bloody big hydraulic jack hammer ! And continued to do so until 12.30AM !!!😠😠😠
