Hey all,

I am onto putting in the door rubbers on my FC Ute. The ones i got from rare spares don't seem to make sense to me at all. I have read the door seals tutorial and watched a few videos but cant seem to get it to fit right. The two water cut out bits on the bottom seem way to far apart and cant get them to sit correctly as it goes around the A-pillar section.

Question being does anyone have any pictures of how the rubber sit on a Ute?
Do i need to have the scuff plates so the rubbers don't bend back on themselves to run in the channel along the back of the sill?
Are sedan/wagon front doors longer? this may be why the water cut outs are not fitting where i think they should?

Regards,
Mark

All doors are the same lower section but the ute has the rounded upper frame. The ute I have still has some of the rubber attached which shows the flap facing inward away from the body. You would need the scuff plates fitted as the rubber is fitted too the recess across the bottom. I'm not sure if the sedan and ute door seals are the same but the obvious difference is the sedan and wagon have the secondary seal down the "B" pillars.

Smith, you've got to have the scuff plates fitted. It sounds to me as if you are trying to fit the door rubber at the back of the sill where it attaches to the floor pan.
The rubbers sit right at the front of the sill and unless the scuff plate is on there is nothing to guide where the rubber should go.

The FC ute I have definitely only has the outer rubber seal that runs around the outside edge of the door frame. If it's not raining tomorrow I will take a couple of photos and post them.

Jim is quite right, Utes don't have the inner door rubber, the windlace goes right round the door gap. (Except across the bottom of course) Grin
