Tonneau cover options

My ute is almost complete just needing to finish the wiring and get the interior finished up. Before i send it back to the interior guy I need to make a decision on weather or not to have a tonneau cover. The recent weather/storms in Sydney have me worried about the rust coming back if left open to the elements.

I am not overly fond of having anything drilled/screwed into the side of the ute, so the original kind of canvas cover would be out. I have seen a few that are attached to the top flat section of the tray with the clips hidden under the canvas which I like and would be the most cost effective.

Question being, what have people done in the past? does anyone make hard tops for FC's? or any other type of system that may suit?

Any comments or ideas apprenticed.

Gidday Mark, I fitted a tonneau to the flat with studs under the cover on my EK ute which I used as a daily driver.It never seemed to let water in.

My late model hilux has the same concept as Marks EK ute, but utilises a length of aluminium extrusion that's screwed or riveted to the body from inside the tray area, then a hard plastic edge is sewn into the tonneau that catches on the extrusion. IMO I think these look better than the elastic down the side jobs, and there's no drilling or screwing on the outside or on the lip, something it didn't want on my ute.

I'm sure any decent upholsterer could adapt or construct one without too much drama. Haven't seen many hard covered or fibreglass lids done well that suit the early Holden stylings, not to say they're not out there.

I am really interested in this because of my fb ek ute I am doing I love what Mark Smith has done and would love some more detail.
