Was yours an Adelaide build Phil?
I wonder if there was a colour scheme for insides as well that isn't in any books.
My Adelaide built wagon has a dark blue on the inside as well as the Breton Blue.
The roof colour is Teal Blue but the inside colour doesn't quite look that dark.
Your dilemma with a single colour Special is that all Grey cars have a red interior.
So the question is was there any method on the painting of the interior colour on an FE Special.
Did they just use a contrasting colour from the range, or is it something that different factories did there own thing.?
Sorry Phil, no answers only more questions.

I don't think they did special runs etc. My wangarra and ascott grey has red interior. My Breton blue fe has lighter blue inside and dark b pillars etc like stewys

I think it would have an rpo number. Maybe take a pic in morning and see if it matches my first interior combo above. But that's a different number but I think that seems a popular fe combo for inside. At least it narrows it down if there was only a few combos

The Fall Red and parchment ivory trim material is not what the question is.
This is what colour is the inside of the B pillar and the inside part of the doors painted.
Another forum member sent me a list a few years ago when I asked this question.
He believed the inside colour with a summit blue and cosmos grey interior was an FJ colour "Pearl Blue"
I would like some evidence if there is any before I go down this path.
The 2 red colours were  Aladdin Red and Gypsy Red.

Yeah I'm not sure of what he is after. I'll wait til he explains or puts a pic up. My point is that sometimes ppl copy later colours or change them from other cars. A bit hard without more info.

thanks for everybody input , sorry if not clear on info required

I am trying to find out what colour was used on the inside of the doors , B pillars , etc. as I am getting ready to paint soon  and want to buy the paint

the FE special listed above is my car ( one colour special cabott grey )

FE-225-31340-A
TRIM #6-703
PAINT #256-7449
FRAME #711962A

my understanding is that both outside & inside colours are normally stamped on the ID plate , the info above is all that is on mine

If it's red I think fall red. 673 as the original trim as you abd stewy would know. I'm just breaking it down in my head. If its an animaly it might jog other ppls memories

I just did this so we can see on 1 page. Ok I did 2 pics so ppl can see on small devices. So the table is as follows but I was wondering if this looks like your pillar colour in the pic. I can now see your number dilemma.

There is a method to this. I believe Geoff Klimpsch in NSW has copies of the GMH specifications that cover this aspect of the paintwork, although I don't know if he has a complete set. It is not stamped on the ID plate.
Also it is peculiar to one colour specials. You may remember discussions in the past of the black specials with silver interior or red interior paint colour.

The GMH specification covers every single detail from what colour the inside of the doors are to what colour the steering column is. It is very comprehensive and there is nothing random about it.
If two cars are different it is because the specification has changed.
An example is the painted colour of the steering column on 1956 FEs (body colour) compared to all later cars (black)
I will find an example and post a picture.

Here is a single page from the FC 217 specification

Sorry it's crooked

I would expect that all the interior colours would be from the existing colour range in the paint shop. So Aetna maroon could be right. The silver in the black specials is an exception.

Steering column black is 399-9394 in general purpose enamel for what it is worth.

Dean your car is 2 tone grey so interior paint is a combination of the two outer colours.
