Am looking for some exterior mirrors for my project I am thinking of late 50s style chev would like them to suit the period of the car. What have others used ? I am shying away from the tear drop clamp on type.

Nasco mirrors are the best in my opinion. Apart from genuine FE FC mirrors, the EH style and the HKTG style also look good. These all bolt to the guard.
Other types include Wibroc mirrors- similar in style
They are all pretty available at swap meets etc.

I used 55-57 Chev mirrors on mine - they look great, good chrome and easy to install.

Joezan,

A word of warning: check with your engineer about how anal-retentive he wants to get on the mirrors. NCOP is really prescriptive, and requires the mirrors to be compliant to the latest version of  ADR14 (http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2006L02663) i.e. you are unlikely to be able to use old or imported mirrors.

Some engineers won't notice the missing mirror, others won't care as long as there is a mirror, and others will want to see ADR compliance certification  Sad.

Cheers,
Harv
