Does anyone know to what degree, if any is a c shaped micrometer is more accurate than a vernier?

Go for good quality as Mal says. Both are precision instruments that need to be treated with respect, away from the welding bench, tool box etc so that they remain accurate.
I use the verniers for just about anything but I do like the micrometer best for measuring the outside diameter of something critical.
I find it easier to get a micrometer to sit square on a shaft, so that gives me the best chance of taking an accurate reading.
My eyesight isn't as good as it was so digital is handy to read the scale without the need for bright light or magnification.
