Not too sure if photo worked but it was of a swivel for the bench seat so you do not have to climb in thru the back, never seen or heard of one before so not sure if it's real or not. Thanks Grub.

This is new to me. Never seen that add before nor a van with the seat fitted. Where does the add come from? Most seat conversions for layback and the like were from small private companies so it is possible. A clearer pic would be good.
Thanks for sharing

Swivel seats were common in yank GM in the day so this seems to be believable . As someone who has a van with a dicky seat in the back ,I know how awkward climbing over the bench is . But the commercials had the door lock on the left side only as a safety feature and this is the drivers side of the yank cars ,and the large blurry photo shows the left seat , so why not . It would have to slide a long way to clear the pillar . I would like to see a better view of the add . Haydn

Ah yes, I have seen the Canopy Industries add with the folding rear seat, probably in a late fifties catalogue or something. I don't have a copy of it. This brochure is obviously from the early sixties and the swivel seat maybe a relatively new inclusion to the range maybe.
Will look for more info on this.

Back when they had no Auto Correct. The correct wording would have been "Station Sedan" as that is what the car is badged as. Cheers Stewy

That spelling of 'waggon' on that brochure is correct, and was the terminology used at the time to refer to a van with folding seats fitted in the back. What we known today as the "Station Wagon" was known as an "Estate Car", "Station Car" or even "Shooting Brake" once upon a time. As I understand it, back in the days when vehicles were a chassis with bodywork done by a coachbuilder, a Station Car etc was a purpose built vehicle for collecting passengers from the train and delivering them and their luggage to a country property (e.g. "toodle-pip, we're going down to our country house for the hols"). It was designed to be easily converted between luggage and passenger duties, like the vehicle we have today. The use of the name "Station Sedan" by Holden reflects the fact that the 219/229 model had four doors, which a vanette/station-waggon does not. Hope that's useful to someone cheers RET

It works for me in Chrome and on iOS. It's possible that the recent upgrade from .19 to .20 has broken the functionality for some browsers, but the Lord helps those who help themselves. So please provide a bit more detail beyond "it's broken". What browser? What version? Windows or Mac?

Interesting , people often refer to my van as a vanette or sometimes a picnic wagon . But I can't understand why an Australian station wagon isn't the same as a pommy estate wagon . And the vintage work light is only used when I haven't got any low voltage bulbs for the plastic late model cheepies [you know , the ones that melt]. And by the way I do have a working interior light . Haydn
