What would you think about a period timber speed boat and trailer as something to tow behind our Holden Models.

They look great. The caravan looks familiar. Where did you get the design ?
I like the idea of a grey powered hydroplane on the trailer. A friend of my father's used to have one when I was a kid. We used to go water skiing behind it at Moogerah and Somerset dams. That'd be about 40 years ago. He towed it behind an EK station wagon.

The Caravan is based in NZ and we found it in Retro Caravan Magazine. We contacted the owner and he was thrilled to get us to make it.
He gave us all dimensions.
A grey powered boat will be cool indeed. I think we need to build a classic boat.

I think maybe both a period hydraplane and clinker speedboat as they raced both with grey motors. I'll do some hunting and see what can be found.

John, couldn't find much but came across an Aussie group in Melbourne that may be worth talking to. Classic Australian Wooden Power Boat Association http://www.cawpba.com.au their site has a lot of shots of timber boats, mostly V8's but at least you get an idea of the style and shape. Also Chris Craft in the states has some interesting styles.

A little more digging and found Gar wood speedster then click on more images, some really nice boats from the period and a hydraplane. Also found marine Holden a good photo of a grey marine engine with a triple manifold but only one carby fitted.
