Hi,

Auto started to lose power   ( engagement ) just before i got home today ,

pulled up opened the bonnet and there was fluid everywhere! all over the front end and around
the sub frame near the radiator just near where the fluid lines go through the front panel and into the cooler.
The gearbox is completly out of fluid so the car does'nt drive.

I think that I may have a leak in one of the lines that goes from the gearbox to
the cooler in from of the radiator, although have'nt been able to positively identify that just yet
waiting for the car to cool so I can remove the bottom radiator hose which is located directly above the
fluid lines.  I'm guessing that its hiding the the problem.

Question is does anybody think that it could be something else Huh

Running a 202 with 3 speed auto and floor shift

 Hi Griffo,
 the only way to find out would be to refill trans with new oil, clean areas that are covered in oil ie: degreaser and and a hose. Then run the engine and inspect for a drip or spray from trans cooler lines in particular. Metal cooler lines have a tendancy to rub through if touching and rubber cooler line products do not last long today before they start perishing and splitting. I fitted new known brand of hose to my ek hydramatic, never driven on the road only moved around back yard when i noticed it dripping the other day, removed hose to inspect and it is cracking every mm and perished beyond belief, have also noticed this on fuel lines i have fitted to customers cars 6 months after fitting.

Thanks Scott,

Disconnected the oil cooler lines and temporarly reconnected them together inside the
engine bay , ( because they were partially obscured) put some fluid in and started her up
couple of seconds later and there was the leak from a hole in the lines.
Now will have to wait till Monday to get some new lines and fit them.
Can anyone suggest what is the best type of line ??

Go the ENZED or Pirtek and describe to them what you want.

They have a special high temp high presure flexible oil line.

Just give them the ID of the hose or take in the old one and they should be able to help.

Metal "Bundy" line, trans shops can usually help you out with it.
The last lot I got, I got some wire and bent it up as I wanted it and took it to the trans shop for them to duplicate.

i make my own out of 3/8 hydraulic tube and flare the end to jic
and make the hoses as short as i can normally only 4-6" long at cooler and again at trans, then i use some stauff clamps to hold it all together.

you could use metric fitting, witch are just a nut and olive to grip the tube then no speciality tools are required except a bender, witch u can get quite cheap

Thanks for the info Guys got it all sorted now , replaced the lines with what was
 there before , after talking to the guy at pirtek , just added a rubber gromett where they passed through
the front radiator support panel,
