Great work as always Pete. So what is the plan. Are you going to detail underneath and repaint the ol girl when your finished.
Mate the young blokes in vic are going crazy at the moment putting twin turbos on gen 3's in small street reg cars. Most are minimum 1000hp.

plan is to retire at 40 put a waterjet and router in my shed and cut from home .

I have a mate specalising in LS conversions hes just done a VX big 88mm single turbo it made 790rwhp on its first run and the timing wheel on the crank or something has moved .
But should be good for over 1000rwhp
another bloke is doing a 100mm turbo on a LS427 into a VH
and hes also got a Ls6 into a VK
and i cut my own style of tough mounts for LS into a LH they are doing.
I also have windage trays , header plates, intake manifolds for LS i have been doing for him.
this is the prototype we added the hinged doors later

coil brackets for LS




turbo flanges





As for the ute yeah its got a little out of hand some big things yet to come.

Pete, strange you say that about the timing wheel moving. My son just built one of these motors for a friend and they dynoed it Monday. Their wheel also moved. Apparently anything pulling this sort of horsepower they are spot welding the wheel. He was working on it last night. Motor has to come back out and also crank.

Mocked up engine today should look good.
Made new extractor plates.
The stock headers are about 5 to 7mm offset and do not line up with the heads?
So I moved mine.


Shell is completely stripped ready for blast and paint.
A week off the car tho for family time.

Try and keep those pipes as close as possible to that engine block . From what your saying its going to be difficult to keep that ute straight ahead when you put the foot down .Cheers Haydn

Back from a quick holiday got stuck into it.
Tommorows job is write a big list of what has to be done and get a plan together.
All rear panels removed shell is mint.
I am going to nustert every side panel. then i am going to dream up a nice floor for the back of it .

B and m shifter mount plug welded and fitted

All holes for tonneau welded up and cleaned up. A few big dints in the top rail knocked out and file finished

Rear spare wheel door is very very clean 1 rust repair the size of a 20 cent piece.
Number plates holes were odd so I welded them up and centred a nsw black and white plate. I will nutsert tommorow.


Tailgate cleaned up 1 tiny repair near the lh hinge.
I really need a easybeat machine to pull dents.
So I welded a washer on and made a slide hammer to pull dints out.

1 rear overider had a massive dint knocked it out into a shot bag 1 weld on the crack/crease.
I am going to recut the top and bottom radiuses of the bumperette on the waterjet as they are all over the shop.

Pile of finished bits ready  for blast and panel beater.

4am start couldnt sleep
All morning straightening rear panels.
Re radiused corners
Straightened where screw heads were.
Ran a step drill threw them all to re round the holes.
Re gapped every edge
Also fitted knurled high quality nutserts with the hydraulic gun.
Could get them all bar 8 so I had to use a hand one to get them.
M5 s/s button heads fitted

Looks great Pete for something that was supposed to be a quick tidy up. Maybe polished checker plate for the floor (if your into that sort of stuff).

Now here is the dilemma , you have a perfect spare tyre door so you need a standard spare tyre 'cause nothing else will fit in there and then when you go to get it out you drag the smashed numberplate bulb out of the door every time . Just kidding, it looks great .Cheers Haydn

The fuel tank will go half and half so there wont be any room for a spare or anything.

Im a sheety i friggin hate checkerplate Jim  Grin
I am going to get drunk and think up a floor design. Probablly 2 sections front and rear hinged swaged.
Put a mullion thru the centre to divide it up.
Just need to make sure i can get that fold profile on the press at work.

not overly keep on timber its heavy and timber welding wire is hard to find.

Ive gotta an idea in my head

gotta make a hardlid yet as well.

Its snowballing a little from what it was meant to be..

Toolbox against the cab wall with clear polycarbonate lid . I have seen them on the floor but that defeat the utes purpose .

Hey Pete, Just a thought, why don't you run (make) a rear tank with a provision for a spare in the middle and have a hinged cover. Could be a space saver type wheel.
