Hi, just bought the fc from victoria.  We have very strong petrol smell particularly in the boot & its extremely hard to put fuel in the tank, keeps clicking off & only takes a small amount at a time.  There is no apparent leak.  Does anyone know whether it has a breather pipe & could it be blocked & where is it ? Cheers Shane

No breather mate it breaths thru the cap.

could be leaking through the sender unit might need a new gasket or the sender may have rusted out ?

In the boot you will see the wires going under a round cover with a slot pry this cap out and see whats going on.

I have never had a drama with it clicking when filling but i hold the bowser nozzle sideways ..

Check around top of tank for seepage it may have rusted as well.
May be worthwile removing it and give it a clean up only takes 20 min to remove.

Good luck \\\Pete

Hi Shane,

I had the same smell in my FC, mostly just after it had been filled right up. I removed the sender & cut a gasket out of gasket paper the coated it with aviation gasket sealer both sides & haven't had a problem since. Lke Pete said yuo will have to work out the right angle of the dangle for filling your car up, I work at a servo & new cars are not much better.

Dean.
