Thought I knew it all about "Old School Mags" ... But ...

Took off the "Dragways" to fit some Eagers and decided to see how the Rockets looked on the old girl ...

Problem ... Mag nuts or standard nuts do not fit !!!!

Any advice appreciated ... there are surely some guys on the Forum running Rockets Huh

Cheers , Davo .

Good afternoon young Finkster ... yar makin my eyes water !!!! ...Laughing ...

It looks like I could fit 7/16 mag nuts if the wheel holes were drilled out ...

They look like they would take a standard 7/16 nut but the Rocket centre hub is way thicker than a Tasman or a Dragway so the nut can't even touch the wheel stud  , let alone thread on !!!

Cheers , Davo .

Hi dave,

Mate on the set I had done up I just had them drilled out, then they ground a drill bit flat & used that to make the recess for the washers. Just make sure they do one hole at a time so everything lines up....mine were done by the apprentice & were just a little bit out, hence why they are now on a trailer.

Dean.

Thanks Dean ... I thought you'd have a solution ... none of the Tyre/Wheel places here had wheelnuts for the job ... or any idea ... Off to the local  Engineering Dude !!!

Cheers mate and Seasons Greetings to you and the family ... Dave .

Never had any complaints yet Weddo , but i think HD HR wheel studs are a bit longer ... Dean rang tonight and reckons  the drill out method is good ....if you can get a good engineering shop to do it ... will check out the wheelstuds though ...either way I'll have them on for Tassie !!!

See ya there , Dave .

Have you tried TEFBA? Give them a ring, I think the old bloke who makes them is still out at Luddenham. Franks a lovely old guy and makes specialty wheel nuts, he modified a set for me a couple of years ago for a WRX.

Yep, he is still listing stuff on ebay, Frank Tonitto, 100 The Northern Road, Luddenham 47733022.

Decisions , decisions , decisions ... whether to get my holes drilled out ... or my nuts lathed down , longer studs or leaving the Rockets off Huh

Might ring Frank and see how painful his cost will be ... one way or another those Rockets are going on  !!!!

What are the odds of finding some originals in a jar in a shed somewhere !!!! ... Ford-All , I reckon !!!

Let ya know later fellas , Davo .
