The guy says in his ad,no offers or swaps, then says he can withdraw his item at anytime. So why would you withdraw it unless you took a huge OFFERor SWAP.He also says ''no dreamers'' Don't frigg'n tell me i can't dream!it's all i have left to keep my sanity.

I understood that the original suitcase set was a blue "houndstooth" pattern as per below pics

There are no Nasco markings on them or part no to my knowledge, just this label, could be wrong though

I think the ones on Ebay are repro's. There was a guy reproing these in Vic a few years ago.

Yes, one Vic enthusiast did at least 4 repro sets in the 90s and cleverly sold them without suggesting that they were repro or genuine, 1 brown, 1 blue with these exact markings on them.  IMO they weren't marked with Nasco or a part number such as these and were made by Globite.  They were indicated simply with a piece of paper glued to the inside of the lid of the largest case.

Being old enough to have actually used fibre Globite suitcases at school, there is a dead give away that these are repros. If these were period correct they would not have plastic handles. Globite didnt use these until at least the very late 60s and maybe as late as 1970.

Earlier cases have a two part handle where the lower part that fits in your palm overlaps the upper part. From vague memory I think the handle mounts were quite different too. So if these purport to be earlier than late 60s, they're repros.

Lots of money for reproductions......

Back in 2005 at the VIC State titles I remember seeing a couple of the blue pattern Nasco suitcases in a certain Terra Cotta/Adobe Beige FC Wagon. Only picture I have shows just the corners:

That member regularly frequents the Forum so I will leave to him to clarify his opinions on which is original and which is repro... (I'd bet on the Blue Wink)

ICB. And I cannot believe anyone would pay that for them even if they were authentic.

While the original cases look like Globite, they were actually made by a crowd in Melbourne "Fred Dodge P/L"

Here is a pic of the label inside the lid

And the outside label

As John mentions, the handles on the ebay units are of a later style, but I suppose they could have still been making suitcase sets for later model Holdens.... Huh

I reckon these are correct for FE FC

Thanks Gary and Brett, Holden suitcases made by a firm called Dodge eh?

Those cases are in superb condition Gary, they match the colour of my 1947 Chyrsler perfectly they have the right name and I'm sure they'd all fit...........

They're called Airport Luggage, can you imagine how long they'd last today?
