Ive got an FE that already has a red motor and traumatic in it

Am I right in assuming it must have already had the trans tunnel replaced ?

Would this tunnel be large enought to fit a th400 in or a 4l60e into ?

Cheers

It sounds as though it has a tunnel change as the original just fits the original gearbox and nothing else.  The common aftermarket tunnel most people fit kind of replicates an EK auto tunnel.  We have one of those in our van with a T700R4 (4l60).  The engine is moved back through the firewall about 75mm and there is still clearance between the box and tunnel. There is not a lot of room but it still fits.

In ours there was more of an issue with the bellhousing and Yframe clearance.  I had to cut back the YFrame seam where holden spotted the halves together.  Once this was done (including rewelding) there is about 10mm extra clearance to the bellhousing.  With the engine further forward this is probably not an issue. Hope this helps.

regards
