Has anyone here had experience putting an ls1 motor into an FE
Ive seen plenty of EFI 304's, but not an ls1 motor
I would prefer to go this way rather than the 304 if possible
Cheers

Most states wont allow an LS1 through engineering... If any so this is the main reason why none have been seen.
Only way to do it would be to buy an already registered and engineered FE/FC with a 350 in it and convert from there I am thinking.

Cheers for that mate
Ive been trolling the net, and couldnt find any info - now I know why
I see from the FB/EK, there is an engineer in my town, so I will have a chat to him.
I may have no choice but to go the 304.

Ive spoken to a locally approved engineer/vehicle inspector, and Im only allowed 5 times the weight of the FE Special Sedan as manufactured, which weighed 1080 kg for engine capacity, which works out to 5400cc, or 5.4 litre - damn there goes the 5.7 litre ls-1 motor.
This basically only leaves me with the 304 holden efi motor to go for unless anyone knows a way I could get the ls-1 motor transplant approves here in W.A.
I will have to look out for a donor car for the transplant
What are the best models to use, and who is the best to buy conversion gear through?
Cheers

305 TPI chev ? 307 with after market injector intake. I recentlly made a fuel tank for a customer and he had fitted an edelbrock injection hat 4 injectors and it just bolts on where your carby goes works a treat.

there are a few other options if its a daily lexis 4ltr (200kw but can hit 300 very easily) rover 3.5-4ltr (not for me) 304 injection and heads on 253
unless your happy with a 6, and the options are endless there
if its not a daily club reg/hotrod reg (unrestricted up to 460ci) able to be driven 90day a year(nilly 2 days a week)
ICV cost a bit more (used for kit cars) but you can fit an ls1 on a daily this way
or rebody another car with your shell as a transplant

So what is involved in Hotrod Rego in WA ?
I really like the idea of the ls-1 motor (just happen to have a 450hp one wrapped in gladwrap from my Monaro)even though it isnt legal as an every day ride, and it seems that it may fit easier than the 253 or 304
The reality is that this car will probably hardly get driven as I have a couple of other cars as well
Also, what are my options of a heater, as this old girl has nothing atm.
I am keen to put in a vintage air cond as well, so can a heater be integrated with one of these.
Not sure I could be patient enough to go through with a full floor pan change as has been done already by others.
Cheers

[quote author=john253a if its not a daily club reg/hotrod reg (unrestricted up to 460ci) able to be driven 90day a year(nilly 2 days a week) Isn't this just for pre 1948 vehicles at present , I know that submissions have been made in NSW to extend this scheme to post 1948 cars but to my knowledge nothing has gone further than the submissions ......FC427......

Mark,
yes I found that, which is similar to the club registration permit. I thought maybe something sensible like a 90 day unrestricted use scheme was on the cards.

Last I heard, the NSW boffins took a look at the scheme and decided it wasn't necessary in NSW. Regards Alex

It was a specific question raised at the Motor Enthusiasts Conference, and will be considered by the new RMS/Government working party, on which the ACMC have a representative. So it is on the cards, but probably not next week or the week after, if you know what I mean.
