hi all.would a vl brake booster and master cylinder be okay to use on a fc with disc front and rear front has twin piston calipers rear end is vl commodore did have drum brakes now has vn disc. front are ve commodore.cheersgazza.

I don't have access to a PBR catalogue any more, but what you need to check is that the VL master cylinder bore is the same as the VE master cylinder bore. If they are the same - no problems!

 From memory most VL are 15/16" bore in the master cylinder VE had a larger piston in master cylinder and it was a progressive rate to get the 2 pistons out to the disc quicker, I have found  some Subaru WRX and Forester came with a 1 1/16'' master Grin that can be adapted to your VL booster which gives a nice pedal feel and gets the twin  pistons out to the disc with out to much pedal travel after all you don't want your pedal hitting the floor just as the brakes start working because of incorrect volume efficiency .....FC427....

Just use VS-VT master cylinder on Vl booster or use a complete VS-VT set up.

hi all. just found out from the commodore site that the ve commodore twin piston calipers have a smaller piston than  the vt commodore. i can use the 15/16 master i do not have to up grade to a 1 inch master.i need to know if the vl master is okay to use as it was a drum brake set up on the rear now it is disc .cheers gazza.

If it was a drum brake master cylinder it will have a pressure valve in the outlet for the rear brakes - this must be removed for disc brake operation otherwise the rear discs will drag. I'm uncertain now whether the VL had a proportioning valve in it for use with disc brake rears.
