Guys I want to fit a set of buckets in my FC wagon after fitting a floor change. Driver comfort and sitting firmly in place cornering is the object of the exercise.
Would like to hear some do's and dont's

THEY ALSO HAVE TO BLEND IN WITH THE CAR.IN THE OLD DAYS I USED VB/VC COM WITHOUT THE H/REST;THEY COME IN A RANGE OF DIFF COLOR VINYLS & NOT THAT HARD TO GET HOLD OF,    GAZ!

I used to have HK-T-G Monaro buckets in Faecal, but they were a bit big - never really enough room between them for the shifter. (I imagine they'd be worth a bit these days, too...)

I replaced them with LC-LJ Torana buckets, which are a better fit: the dimensions of the Torana are similar to the FC. These are like the HQ era seats with the triangular head-rests in the top. Of course the head-rests got the flick. I think the height of them suits the car - they're about the same as the original seat.

I've got '66 Corvette Stingray buckets in my FC - they fit well and look great. Is it a legal requirement for buckets seats to have headrests when replacing the bench for buckets? I've never followed this up with an engineer.

In Victoria the requirement is for seats to have head rests. This is a design rule brought in during the seventies to eliminate neck injuries caused by a car running into the back of you. I have seen cars get through without them, I think it depends on the engineer and whether he picks it up or not.

One of the advantages of removable ones, I suppose. I could always slip them back in if I had to. (And assuming I could find them...)

They weren't discussed when I got my engineer's certificate.

Another option is to have the bench modifyed
You can have a notch fitted for a manual shifter
And have have them remolded into bucket/side support via the padding placement.

I've seen this done in the rear or many cars and in 2 door rods and looks very nice.
