hi guys i have just installed a five speed w50 celica gear box behind my grey motor i have used a new celica slave cylinder and have connected it up via a new modified hose to a new fc master cylinder . it dosnt seem strong enough to push the clutch fork forward. i have blead the systom  and have also tried adjustments at the pedal .if you have done this converstion was it ok with the origanal master cylinder cheers clive

I have done one of these and we used the Celica master cylinder. No problems

hi ken thanks for the quick response i was hoping that was the way to go  but i had to make sure this time as the gearbox and clutch have caused me a lot of heart ache  on this build, is it a strait swap for the holden one and can you remember the model +year they come of thanks again clive

I don't know the codes for Celicas, the one I did was the early one with split case alloy box - we used the master cylinder from that. Most Celica boxes now are the steel case one from the later model. So I would use the matching master cylinder.   However, If it does not adapt well, all you need to do is measure the bore and use any master cylinder you like as long as it has the same bore.

I have a Celica master cylinder however the bore extends 2" inside the firewall. See attached sketch. I don't think this will cause any problems with the actual clutch pedal but just wanted to check.




The mounting bolt positions appear to match, however will need to enlarge the opening through the firewall by a few millimeters. No comimg back once I do that.

sorry my replays have taken so long but i work away.i have know fitted a celica master cylinder .after opening up the holes in the fire wall and hooking every thing up under the dash i am  surprised the clutch takes so much effort to operate is this normal and what about the slave cylinder bracket does every one  make there own or can i buy one to suit thanks again for every ones help

It should be easy not too hard. I had same box on a 250 Ford motor and wasn't hard. The diameter of the bore will effect pressures to the clutch fork so did you read above links. Your best bet would be to read on a Toyota forum or make sure you have the correct diameters at both ends for your particular gearbox. Are you using the correct fluid this would make a diff
