Hi Guys,
I'm chasing (and without much success atm) a Mitsubishi Colt sedan 1/4 panel cut.
I have eyed off the fuel door, and would very much like to chop one out of a sedan and fit it up to my wagon.
First is to find one.. Second.. finding one that can be cut up.
Does anybody know suitable donor vehicle?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Ed
PS Failing this, I will invert a commodore fuel filler (from RHS to LHS - rear opening)... but it is a fair amount of trouble...
thanks thanks thanks...

they are fairly cheap at wreckers as they are plentiful due to so many colts falling apart remember the metal is a lot thinner than your FC

you see them all the time sitting on the side of the road unregistered, just go out one night with a gas axe when every one is asleep. I hope this information has been of some help. PS have you thought having the fuel cap somewere else, they have been squeezed in behind the tail lights before with the tailight hinged, something i thought of doing with my wagon is to just tidy up that big creater the fuel filler sits in without a door

ha ha... mitsu colts are such a P.O.S I know, but if it's got what i need then... i went thru the yellow pages for mitsu wreckers but am definitely not going to pay the price some of these guys (crims) were asking! I like the hinged tail light idea, however I dont think I could do it without resulting in a leaky tail light, a leaky petrol filler etc.. I guess relocating the filler and filling from under the number plate is a possibility... good donor would be a LH/LX Torana.. petrol may slosh out the cap under hard acceleration... late model filler cap (eg VL comm..) may fix that.. hmmm... would this be too dangerous?? petrol filler under bumper?

Hey Ed, The problem with going low with the filler is that you lose volume with what is able to be pumped in... I thought of the same thing. You could put it in the wheel arch on the passenger side rear door, then pipe it to the tank, opening the door to fill? I have some new shots of the beast including the tank, will try to get them on today. Cheers Jason.

Hey Ed
Check out a CHRYSLER VOYAGER bout a 1997 model. A guy at work has one and the door is same as commodore only on the LHS.

Wouldn't it be easier (cheaper even) to flip the Commodore filler?

Thanks guys lol I think i will stumble upon a filler in due time. horses? prefer a nice filly over a colt, the filler on a colt.. hmm won't go there... thanks Stinky for the leads, but Bargo is a long way from me, and the wreckers seem to think these colt parts are worth GOLD?!.. not.. a-c, I may chase up the part numbers on voyager items. wouldnt have a pic handy of th efiller ins and outs would you?.. there were none in the carpark outside i could have a peer at. Cheers Ed

In all seriousness, I called the Mitsu Wrecker I drive past almost every day. $30 and you can have one, prolly cost $10 odd to send over your way. Let me know if you want me to organise anything.
