Evening All
Just wandering if there are any helpfull Adelaide Club members with a couple of spare hours to help out a fellow FC fanatic and formed Crow Eater.

My Problam: I payed for my car today and now it is sitting at the car movers in Dry Creek. The hand brake does not work, I assumed (silly me) to get the car registered this would have to be fixed. Now my car is in "Dry dock" down there and may be subject to the fix it or we do not move it rule.

My Favour: Can any one suggest a good mobile brake mechanic who can either reconnect the cable or replace it if required.

All responses and offers of assistance greatly accepted.

Cheers Jim Cry Cry Cry Cry

If the car is driveable, then you should be able get a temp permit from Dept of Trans that will allow you drive the car via a pre-determined route to get it home or get it repaired.
Last time I got one (a fair while ago) it cost about $30-35 and is valid for 1 day only.

Thanks for that stinky,

The car was just registered 4 days ago so it can be driven. My prob is that I am in Bris and the care is in ADL and to put it on the truck for transportation to its new home the hand brake needs to be opporational.

Cheers Jim

Ah, now I see.
There are plenty of Mobile Mechanics around Adelaide.
My mechanic is not mobile however, if you don't get any leads here, it's off to the http://www.yellowpages.com.au to find a mobile mechanic.
If you need local representation give me a yell and I will try to help out.
There is a large ABS (Auto Brake Service) in Rosewater, 207 Grand Junction Rd 5013   08 8447 1866 , maybe they can send someone around there?

Hi Brad

Thanks for the offer and will keep it in mind. My inlaws live in Adelaide but are away for the weekend. My wife is a very suspicious person and is giving me grief for even contemplating trusting a complete stranger. What does one say to a nagging wife Huh So to keep the little women off my back I will have to ask the father Inlaw if he can have a gander for me and be the middle man.

I think my car would have been transported over the weekend except the guy I brought it off payed by cheque and they will not move the car till the cheque clears. Then there's the hand brake, I believe to be a side issue and could be overcome. I will just have it fixed so I can get the car here ASAP. I was hoping to have it here for my birthday but hey I can wait an extra day or so.

Cheers and thanks Jim

Hi Nicko

I spoke to the load manager who by chance has the same name as you just spelt different (Niko) he said it could be subject to refusal because of the hand brake.

I think he was just pissed of because it was towed there and paid for by cheque. I think the brake is just an excuse.

that would be the reason , as they usually only accept cheques off places that have accounts such as car yards, when shopping for good rates on car transport they and i would expect cash as its part of the discount process usually mate, anyway hope you get it delivered without any more hassles

Hey Guys

Having worked in the industry for a few years till giving it away, I can tell you the reason why some  car transport company will not touch a car without a handbrake.

It all as to do with " Public Liability Insurance", Its not about securing the vehicle on the truck but more about when you have unloaded it. The driver must ensure that the hand brake is applied and securing the vehicle before he drives away otherwise he becomes responsible for any damage incurred if the car rolls away. The mob I sub contracted  for would always stay away from those sort of cars cause we weren't covered if something was to happen.

Regards air-chief.

I hope she is upto the trip down to the Gold Coast. I have a few weeks to do the neccessary work required to ensure she is up to it.

Then I suppose I have a couple of years up my sleeve to work on her so I can enter in the next nationals.

See you all at Easter.
