Great pictures.

IMHO at the very least out of courtesy you should credit the owners though, or at least note where you found them.

Some of the stuff that Ray Bell and others contribute by sharing these pictures is very generous.

Point taken Craig, but to me this is a very grey area when pics have been posted to other forums from various sources by people with a 'username' on the forum rather than a real name.

Also, some of these would have been previously published in books and newspapers over the years.

All pics in this thread to date have been 'taken' by me from the forums at Autosport.com in good faith and for the purposes of research among club members and car restorers, not for any other reason.  They are freely available on the internet for all to browse anyway, so if it all gets too hard, I won't bother posting any here.  I've always acknowledged ownership of photographs when known.  I don't consider acknowledgement necessary in this case for the reasons already explained.  To the casual observer (me) on autosport.com forums, I don't want to have to search to find the 'owner' of these pics, when the people who posted them didn't acknowledge ownership (even if it was their own) in many cases.  It's all part of the great knowledge base called the internet.

I wasn't having a go Shayne, the pictures are great and I am certain appreciated by all who don't visit those particular forums.

Was just pointing out that a simple link or reference to the source would be useful and in fact very worthwhile because there is generally other fascinating information included with the images.

Keep them coming I say  Grin

No offence taken Craig.  I agree some of those blokes like Ray have an incredible wealth of knowledge and amazing library of photographs and records.  We are lucky that they share some of it with us.

 Cheesy

I'm in the (very slow) process of writing a book, and I've gone to extensive efforts of recordkeeping when it comes to photographs.  If I find a useful one on the internet, I try to track down the owner.  If I can't, I can manage to get a 'From the Collection of ...' note at the least.  My efforts aren't as extensive when it comes to re-posting pics on forums though.

Don Elliot Repco Holden

The NSW on the rear quarter gives this away as the much-travelled Lou Kingsley in front of David Lewis in Ray Long's FJ, which also had its origins in NSW.
