G'day all

I need to get an FC sedan transported from Sydney to Coffs Harbour

Car has been in storage for ten years so wouldn't be drivable. Any recommendations, ideas

on costs  etc would be appreciated

Probably better doing a midnight run so you know you get everything.

as brakes are probably stuck on so most car carriers just wanna roll it on and go.

He could mean different things, but from what I have learned of Hoon, I know what he means.

But generally a midnight run is when u have an unregistered vehicle and u dont wanna be hastled by the cops, you do it overnight with a mate or 2, a bit like when u have lights not working, they drive front and back, 1 maybe has a tow rope lol  Cheesy the other playing 'cover', with or without a unreg permit ha ha.  Wink but u sound quite responsible  Smiley

What id be doing is try to get one of those little trailer things for your car that just lifts front of car if wheel bearing on back are ok.

in the bush we do midnight runs through paddocks and on dirt roads on a regular basis but bit harder in your situation  Roll Eyes

do a smokey and the bandit with a few mates, its much more fun for all.

Ah I see the light

But a midnight run from Sydney to Coffs Harbour sounds a bit over the top [ 7 hour drive ]

I dont have access to a tow vehicle so it has to be a car trailer or car carrier of some description

my days of out running the cops are long gone Grin

Just as an after thought  what sort of a job is it getting the drums off to free up the brakes on a car that  has been in dry

storage for ten years?

I got my FC up to Port on the back of a trailer! Not a problem. Just a bigger drive for you up to Coffs,
Trailer hire is not too bad about 120 bucks for 2 days! or you can go down and back in a day!

Thats not far, i go to melbourne 3.5 hrs and adelaide 5 hrs all the time. and thats 1 way, at least u have civilisation on your trip ha ha.

hey take a massive hammer and bash crap out of drum and plenty of crc and anything else u can think of, or just ring the person and ask them to see if the wheel will spin  Cheesy

do the first half a midnight run then u can get there quicker  Cheesy.......................... Undecided

Sorry i meant get in a car with  a trailer and shoot down and back.

i dont condone driving unregitstred as i have been on the other side and been hit by someone with no insurance.

Thanks guys for all the advice

My plan was to get the wheels freed up before I involve any one else in moving it. When I get the drums off can I just

put the wheels back on with out the drums rather than rip the linings out to move it on and off a trailer or truck?

I have done brakes before but never ones that have been sitting for years.

I recently had to pry some drums off a car that had sat outside unmoved for 4 years.
My suggestion is to back off the wheel cylinder as far as it will go.
Use a hammer to knock the drum to help free it up and the shoes,
Use a large flat blade screw driver to slowly work around the drum to lever it off a bit at a time.
When the drum comes off, sand the inside, be sure the wheel cylinder is completly off, and the drum should slide back on without an issue.

i think people know i am having a joke. i dont think its a good idea to drive an unregistered vehicle either, but was trying to explain the way that this term is referred to in different areas.

Its like those stickers, 1 says

"City people say AAAAAH before they have a crash"
"Bush people say - hold onto to me stubby and watch this for skill"

ha ha.
