Unfortunately I can remember as kid before Tapley's Hill and Reynella bypass were developed.  I think you are referring to junk food corner (South Road, Pimpala Road)  Where Maccas is now I think there was the Time Bakery and a servo (cant remember what type).  The side closer to Adelaide (and the Reynella Bypass) still has shops.  I think the lawn mower shop has a concrete pad where an old servo operated from.

Out the back of those shops there used to be a huge wrecking yard which I think closed by the late 70's.  There were very few Neptune servos around and I cant remember one around that area (in the 60's this  was still country and Reynella and Morphettvale still individual towns.  Definitely cant remember Neptune Taxis.  I think there was a rural taxi service around - Christies Beach taxi service.

From the old fart

gee man im surprised u can use internet or even see screen lol.  ::)the bypass was done ages ago. interesting u remember a servo on calorie corner.

what i reckon, the guy lived at hackham and went down bottom of taps to the depot and his base was there where maccas is, where shell was later, because remember the king neptune statue down bottom near sturt river (was sturt river/creek there then lol)  Cheesy

Must have taken ages to get to Victor in those old cars with drum brakes and shit roads. id think most of the hills were not cut out as well as now too.

Yes its amazing that people get to this age and still be modifying cars.  I watched Taps being dug out as we lived at Darlington in 1960 with our house being a 200 metres (sorry should I say yards) from the works.  Until 1970 the stop lights at the bottom of Taps were the last leaving Adelaide.

There was almost nothing at Hackham only Bellamys General Store and Post Office.  I work in Adelaide and I am not far from the State Library.  If I get time I will go have a look at the directories at the library.
They go back to about 1870.  Alternatively you could have a look at the old digitised newspapers on line (just look for NLA or trove). I just had a look on these newspapers and there is a connection.  Black and White Taxi's used to advertise saying how fantastic Neptune Motor products were.  Even found a letter signed by the the Black and White Taxi owner.  This advertising went on for years.  See If you find that one young whipper snapper.

Ha ha im pretty good at genealogy stuff. But there isnt a lot on the net for that company. Id rather get 'local knowledge' with stories behind them.

I have some original stickers unused from that company. Im in Vic now for work reasons and its better to get stuff in the old books and things cos then id get an idea of logos etc.

Im willing to pay for any out of pocket costs if u print and send stuff etc.

Funny how some things that were not obscure like a company like that going for 15 odd years doesnt have more people discussing thing about it on the net, but my family had a bike shop in adelaide years ago and i have found quite a bit about that owner operator busines on here???

Found closest dealer in 1940 was at Clovelly park. Cool advert for adelaide people.

ESSO (I think that name name came "S O" - Standard Oil) used to have the slogan "Put a tiger in your tank".

Well, did you hear about the bloke that put a tiger in his tank?   It shagged his Jaguar.
