Well done to all concerned with the server changeover for the site. It does "feel" more efficient. As I understand most of the management of the Site is on a voluntery basis and we are all eternally grateful for the time and effort that goes into supporting our hobby.

The punchline - Bookmarking of topics is an outstanding feature of the site. What is difficult over time is remembering why you have bookmarked a topic or "Where is that topic about repairing said widget?". This is particularily so when a great idea is caught up within a build which has many pages.

Therefore is it possible to modify the backend tables to enable individuals to be able to post a comment against a Bookmarked topic and that comment viewed within the Bookmarked tab Huh It may also be necessary to be able to bookmark a topic twice for different reasons.

Thanks in advance for consideration.

Rgs Wayne

I had a bit of a play today and have developed a work around using the favourites bar within explorer. This way you can also use a particular topic more than once and simply have different names for the topic section you wish to have a memory of. May help some people. For those of you who have already saved a number of bookmarks for future reference by right clicking the topic gives you an option to add to favourites rather than opening each topic and then adding to favourites. As you can see I also created a new folder titled FE-FC to store the favourite topics in.

Hi Wayne,

I just discovered I've got 3 bookmarks, but no recollection of ever saving them! (I usually use the Search function to find old stuff.) But if it's useful to people, that's great.

I'll have a look and see if there are any plug-ins or improvements available for the bookmarks feature.

cheers

Hi RET.  I was not aware of the bookmark feature as I never look beyond the norm.  I checked my bookmarks and found I already had two book marks as well.  Maybe their a "bonus" you get to get yuo started.

I suspect we've all just clicked the "Add Bookmark" link instead of either "reply" or "notify" at some stage.

I found there is a new and updated version of this plug-in, but spent several hours discovering lots of ways it won't install. I was reduced to:

a) reading the instructions, and
b) posting a request for help on the SMF forum

Hopefully the new version - if I can ever get it to work - will be richly featured Undecided

Good Stuff. I think you notice those interested in the grease and stuff have left this post well alone, other tragics have responded, each to his own.
