Nice starting point considering it is a ute.
I agree with Jack, those A pillars are as good as they get for 50 yrs old.
Looking forward to many, more updates.

Alex

The A pillar on the right has 1 small hole about the size of a ten cent piece, the left no rust at all.

Just a Tip get a piece of copper offcut be it copper bus bar or something like that and stick behind and weld the hole up the weld will not stick to the copper and once you have done the weld pull it out.

We manufacture all sheetmeta odds and ends and i have used it for years.

Also if you can afford to get some gas for it do so.

Anything non ferrous works but copper is the most dense and sucks the heat out the most.

Here's an update I have very busy the last eighteen months or so,well I have started on Wal again, the tail gate is the first salvo.

It is not well,so a bit of drastic action was required.

.

The left side was worse.

I cut and tidied up the bottom edge and made up the right hand side hinge mount.

Hopefully get some more done tomorrow,it feels good to get back into it.

Today's progress, left side bracket made and tacked them both into place, the tailgate even opens and closes with out trying to fall off now Grin

More soon.
