You'll also need to unscrew the speedo cable by reaching up from under the dash.
In addition, completely disconnect the choke cable from the carby. To release the outer, I unscrew the bracket from the carby (and put the screw back in the carby so I don't lose it) - this saves losing the "adjustment" of the length of the cable.
These two steps will allow you to pull the dash away from the panel.
When you're replacing it, make sure you've got all the globe holders (indicator lights and dash lights) in place - it's easy to knock them out of place. It will save you a few swear words that you would use if you put the dash back and then found some of the lights didn't light up. (Those swear words you save will come in handy later on when you do something really stupid
