Here are some pics that I have of a customised FE convertable. I made some enquiries and found out that this conversion was done by Dale Fisher. The back of the pics date them as Feb 1960.

2 Door conversion, boat style folding top. Unusual flash is part Customline. 2 tone paint similar to FB, keep in mind that these pics were taken the same month the FB was released.

Front end simply got a chrome mesh grill insert.

Rear end treatment sees taillights turned upsidedown, a popular custom trick back then.

Regards
Alex

Great looking and gutsy custom - would be like doing that to a VX Commodore current dayz.  Shocked
And where's the fuel filler gone?

probably the same place the rear doors went.

Love the tail lights and twin rear aerials, not sure about those rims though (rare or not)

Alex, what bonnet emblem is on it?
And now that I know what Dale Fisher's work looks like, a big thanks for the comments on the grill.

Hey Al
Not sure what that bonnet emblem is. Looks like a flying eagle or something along those lines.

Whoa.
That is only the second time I have seen a set of those wire trims on a car. I have a set & have tried them on all my cars. Hmmm, not good. BUT, when I whacked them on a set of Black rims, they looked great!! Even the ugly ones look good in the right circumstances.

Hey Rob
Those trims are designed to sit on the wheel with the hubcap in place. The hole in the middle lets the holden emblem have pride of place. Try it, I like em. Remember, these were around before mags.

I doubt it.  The XK mascot sits flat on the bonnet, and they were released Sept 1960 anyway.  This photo is dated February 1960.

cheers
