This looks good Pete.  Do you have to modify the back of the air pump for the car by to fit or make a pipe that loops back?

Yeah it will do but when i did the EH with one on it i saved all the drawings in the water jet so its easy to cut a new one.
I use the original intake and modify both ends.

Not even sure its all going to fit so im just having a bit of a play as i havent seen any greys running M90,s im sure there out there but just wanted something different.

Pete, have you thought about fitting it on it's side? Have a look at "my blown grey" by jimbo492 in general technical, looks real neat and a lot less room required.

I tried it on its side by the time it clears the headers its the exact same footprint.

Battery tray needs removing generator needs changing and regultaor .
It clears the bonnet hinge with a dellorto.

really dont want to muck up the reliability of the old girl it runs so sweet and never misses a beat .
But a supercharger whine would be nice...

You can buy a cd with a pre-recorded supercharger whine on it. Play it in the FE when you're driving her - problem solved  Wink

Getting excited to tow the van.
So i found my annoying noise which i suspected NES gave me a diff with original wornout wheel bearings how dare he...

So i replaced the rear wheel bearings
replaced front and rear unis
oil change
gearbox oil changed
The linkage rods are very worn so repaired them
tidied up an old tow bar  cut a new plug mount as per original
made a new tongue on the waterjet and fitted a shackle mount thingo as i couldnt get any second hand pig tail looking hitches.
Fitted crush tubes into the body welded top and bottom (photo before welded)

So i havent looked to hard but is it going to be a drama wiring in the trailer plug as the FE has the blinkers and brake lights all in 1? im about to go grab the repair manual and have a look

The semaphore blinkers on the FE FC's make the blinkers go haywire!!!! good luck with it all! I was told you have to run a fresh line to both to get them to bypass the semaphore set up , otherwise your blinkers are stop lights !!

The vintage caravan forums should have diagrams for the FE/FC setup showing where to tap in & anything else required to overcome issues with the combined blinkers & brake circuit.

Just found this

Hi Brendan.

There are 2 solutions to your problem.

The simplest, I think, would be to convert to the late FC set-up of amber rear blinkers. Sure you have to change the lenses, & some like the 50's look of the red rear blinkers, but you don't have to run any new wires.

To do this, you utilise the currently unused reverse light wire for the brake lights & use the old brake light wires for the new amber blinker lights. Under the dash, attach the  other end of this reverse light wire to the brake light switch & that's it. It's then simple to wire up the trailer socket, same as a late model car (in the boot).

If you currently use the white lenses as reversing lights, attach the reverse light wire from the reverse switch,  under the dash to the connector where the brake lights were connected to.

The alternate plan, if you wish to stay with the red rear blinkers is to run 3 new wires from the dash to the boot area.

1 wire from the brake switch for the trailer's brake lights.
2 wires from the blinker switch (LH & RH) for the trailer's blinkers.

You could, if you wanted to, run the 5 core trailer wire all the way to the dash to reduce the number of connections.

Hope this helps.

Dr Terry.

You can keep the clear fe lenses and run narva phantom globes that look chrome coloured and flash orange.

I allready have the pointed caddilac style lenses in amber to fit.
i had all intentions of changing to a conventional blinker set up .
As there a lot of stupid people around our area that just cannot get their head around a brake light flashing.

That"s the reason i converted my clear lenses to blinkers,to many close calls.
