Can anybody tell me what is the correct muffler for an FC. Is it round or oval? Is the outlet offset from the inlet or in the middle on both ends? The stuffed one I took out is oval. around 18" long and no offset for inlet or outlet. Any suggested brand and/or model for one. A muffler place I went to today said he couldn't get one with 1 3/4" inlet and 1 1/2" out let to match the sample I took into him.

The one you have is right. Yes it is hard to get a genuine muffler nowdays.

I was able to get a complete new exhaust system off the shelf to suit FC. Worked out well since I wanted to bolt on the exhaust myself and not get the car towed to exhaust shop.
I cant remember the brand, but I know it was ordered from a perth supplier. It only took a week or so to arrive in adelaide and I think total cost was $300. This included engine pipe, muffler, tail pipe, flange gasket (not flange bracket though) and clamps.
If you don't have any luck, try ringing AAA exhausts in adelaide, and asking them the specifics of the FC exhaust.

I tried to get a complete exhaust system from one of our local parts suppliers, Nepean Spares, but after a check he said he couldn't get them anymore.
I've found a nos tailpipe in the shed & a slightly used muffler, so all I really may need is an engine pipe.
Thanks for the tip re AAA, I'll try a couple of others locally & if I do no good I may call them.

I got a full system for mine off american autos at homebush about 5 years ago, failing that if you have the old one charlestones exhaust at blacktown should be able to make one up for you

Hi guys I had a new muffler and tailpipe fitted @ Carline Mortdale.They ordered it in took about a week, fitted Saturday great job very happy.

I found a muffler shop in Toowoomba who recognised the muffler and found a supplier in Brisbane. Muffler was $88 and $55 to bend up a new rear pipe and supply two clamps. Even thou the front pipe was still good I had a new one which I have installed.
