The trims plastic trims for the front seat have some splits in them however I believe they are quite usable.  What is a good method to repair them and what backing should I use behind the cracks?  What is the most effective glue to use?  I envisage I could fill fill the  cracks on the front side to hide them followed by a coat of black plastic paint.  Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Keith, the problem is the very fine grain finish on the trims, unless the cracks can be glued perfectly you will always see the crack because the front cannot be filled and sanded without looking bad. Roughen the back and use fibreglass is the best way to reinforce it.
Depends on how good you want the finish to look.

Thanks Ken and Mark for the suggestions.  I was aware of the very fine pattern in the plastic.  I guess one can always try and if nor successful there is nothing lost.
