Am in the process of replacing worn front Tongue Huh end components
Two problems this far
1. I bought a upper wishbone to replace mine because the holder for the rubber stopper was missing
The one from ozwreck is NOS but has a different sized/shaped stopper
Did they make acouple of styles of thevwishbone???
2. Drag link. I put a kit through mine but in taking out the old components but there is a couple of thin cups and 2 spacers that are not supplied with the new kit.
On putting it back without the cups but with spacers the lock screw sits proud of the end andthe split pin won't fit
Do the spacers stay out Huh
Any advice please??? Tongue Tongue Huh

Check to make sure you have not bought an FB EK top wishbone. They are different to FE FC.

The thin sheet metal cups are not supplied in the kit - You should reuse your originals.

The spacers you talk about are triangular in cross section - 1 short & 1 long? These are for FX FJ model. So I am not sure why they are in your drag link. They are not used in FE to EK draglinks.
Something seems not right if you have pulled apart your original and replaced the components in the kit and now it won't go back together.

The spacers that I refer to are a bit bigger than a 1 coin
And sit against the indents in the drag tube
The thin metal cups are worn beyond reuse?
I think that I have an ek upper wish bone . Are they interchangeable?
Also do you pack the tube with grease to reinstall or just grease thru nipple?

Yes those small spacers should be kept and reused as well
You probably should try to get replacements for any worn parts.
You should use an FE FC upper wishbone as I cannot guarantee that they are the same dimension as EK
Yes pack the tube with grease as you assemble.

Took it all apart again on the weekend and refitted it without the coin shaped spacer on the pitman arm side just to see the fit.
Much better as I could fit the locking nut and the split pin..... but that is without the tin cup and the spacer???
Are the tin cups still available??
The drag link kit was purchased from ebay and measured up the same.. The last time i did one it was not quite a drama! I don't get it?
I think I might take it to someone!!! Any ideas or just the local steering guy.

I'm not sure what the function of the tin covers really is - maybe stopping the springs rubbing against the outer body of the drag link or maybe retaining grease inside the spring area? They were originally available in the GMH repair kit but seem not to be supplied in newer kits - It is possible that they have been deemed dispensable.
However the small plug should be retained as the inner piece at each end of the drag link - if it all came apart, then it must go back together. I ofter find the ball seats don't sit squarely and you have to coax them into position carefully
