Probably showing my cards really early here...

There is a swan emblem on ebay that i am interested in... will look great on the ute i am thinking. But says its missing a piece.

So does anyone have a photo of one on a car, I need to see how tall it sits and what is actually missing.

Cheers
Jason.

Try this one: Ebay Item #260479118354

Not sure which one you're watching but google Packard (open to correction) - I think they had swan ornaments and there should be loads of them come up on ebay in the States.

Paul, the Packard ornament is actually a Cormorant, not a Swan. That ormanent looks to be the same as this one;

http://www.truckcustomizers.com/products/swan-hood-ornament.html

Jason, you can a brand new one for US$40.

Places like Hy-Way Truck Accessories have heaps of trinkets like this, skull numberplate bolts, bolt on stars and naked ladies, chrome push-on nut caps, hood ornaments etc, etc.

I got my Swan at an antique shop. They make them new and I see alot of trucks here in the US with them. They can also have colored plastic wings. I suggest mounting them with brass bolts that will shear if in an impact (ie kids head) - I have had a pink slip tell me to remove it, but most mechanics recognize that the grill will probably do (much) more damage. Teher are three pieces - two wings and the body.

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

My partner, Mick, picked up one of these swan emblems from the Queanbeyan swap meet today. He was told that some FB's came with them. Not too sure if its true. Does anyone on this forum know?

Janette, they did not come as an option on any vehicle.   They were an after-market accessory.    Any hoon from the day worth his salt would have one on their car, along with tar babies, fringe around back window, forklifts, nodding dog, coloured paper in interior light, flappers, spinners on hubcaps, etc.  My car in my avatar had one.    Grin     Mike.

Thanks Mike for the info. Really appreciate it.

There is one on ebay at the moment at $131 with 3 days to go. So there must be people out there who still want them.
