I had a look at some old posts and all the photos of my car are missing so I thought I would stick some more up.

I've had the car since 1985, red 149 fitted (by Al Wall from the NSW Club) in 1987, refurbished in 2003 and not used enough since.

The top one is the first picture I took of it on the way home from purchasing the car.

Some more early ones, including some shots from the late '80's (maybe '87?) outside the old American Autos shop on Parramatta Road.

Some newer ones

Hey Craig
Nice pics.
Did Al own the poomobile at one point, or just help fit the motor?

No Alex, Al owned a Terracotta over India Ivory sedan when I first got mine.

I have a picture of it somewhere at the 1986? NSW AHD.

He fitted the engine at his workshop in Springwood. I paid $100.00 for the engine from a wreckers, a very early number 149 with a standard bore.

Its never missed a beat since it was rebuilt and doesn't leak a single drop of oil from the engine.

Craig,

That is a very tidy car that you have, I would swear that you could eat off that engine Wink

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Yes it is a long story, but basically the 'Poo' bit refers to the flash colour which has been likened to baby poo.  Grin

Wow Craig, I remember when we striped the motor down, measured the bore and was surprised and glad that it was standard. I also remember late one night in the workshop weighing and filing engine parts  making sure all the pistons weighed the same also the conrods, maincaps, ect... using June's kitchen scales which if she knew about, she would have killed me. The motor that's in the ute now I rebuilt not long after I did your's. Were did 23yrs go....

Quality workmanship like yours doesn't need a long warranty anyway Al.

Here's a trio of Poo Mobiles at the 2003 Nats in QLD.

Just realised that today is the 50th birthday of my FC!!! Created on 25th November 1959.

I know the manufacture date is just an estimate but I'm off to the garage to have a beer in celebration anyway.

Here's lots of pictures taken very recently at the soon to be closed Oran Park.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POO MOBILE!!

I'll go against the flow here, I remember when these aerials came out, they were marketed as " vandal proof " because they would bend rather than break.

I have a new old stock one in the shed with a red tip that will find it's way onto 1 of the cars eventually.
