Removing paint from firewall this morning I found this written on the primer, would have made it easier for the guys in the paintbooth I guess?  |

Good pic Cam, very common to see this on FX FJ models - seems to be rarer on FE FC model, but maybe the firewall paint was thicker on FE FC. Hard to say whether all plants did this but since yours is an Adelaide body it would be pretty safe to say that it was done in that plant at least.

Hey Cam are you soda blasting the firewall? it looks like they have taken a layer off at a time to get that markings so clearly without disturbing it??

Matt I'm just using gun wash and a plastic scourer pad.
The top ascot grey coat has been coming off pretty easy, leaving a very sturdy red primer underneath.. lets face it - i'm just playing in the shed, hiding from the global world recession

I just noticed the body number on the ute, 35-A. Obviously that's a very early ute, does anyone have ute details recorded that is below this one?

No I have nothing lower - I have details of FC 2106 41 A which was my previous lowest.

So is the detail of FC 2104 35 A mean something special? I thought utes were all 2106?

My mistake, I too missed this, I saw Geoff request the chassis and engine number for the ute, and didn't think to question it.
Ken was on the ball when he came back with FC 2106 41 A.

Full resto has begun  so I'll post some pics soon - should remove all the ute/van confusion Done so far: - grey motor rebuild: o/s pistons, red motor valves, ulp head, warm cam, alloy timing, balanced - set Sumitomo 185/80 witewalls - B/W plates NOB-058 Will refinish in original Ascot grey and basically keep it stock. Maybe twin carbs, I have the manifold (monaro motors) and extractors but will need to suss out the linkages bit. thanks Cam |
