 I'm going to try and drag the motor out this weekend and check it over. I will get a top end gasket kit into as well and order a bottom end kit while I'm at it.

 Hi all,

 Guards are done and back on the ute, and look pretty good (from a distance) and the new peak is pointing in the same direction as the good one. Yip yah!!! Doors will be started and hopefully done tomorrow as there isn't very much to do on them. I will put the pics up after work tonight. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

 Put the brothers out to play today. It's been 2 years since the youngest has seen the outdoors. Won't be much longer and they will all be playing on the road. Enjoy











The older and more wiser of the 3 is the sedan, next is the wagon (Rosalyn's) and the youngest by 12 months is the ute.

Hi again all,

Over the last 2 days I have made a little more progress on the beauty ute. I have stripped the bonnet back to its bare r's. And what a sight. It looks like it is covered with freckles (of Rust, not sun, spots).However, with some very intense rubbing it came up nicely. It was rust treated and painted in red oxide. The doors ( inside ) were cleaned out and also done in oxide. Next, the rust was remove from the spare wheel door and repaired. It is yet to be finished, tomorrow (depending on the GOC home command). Here are the latest pics.

Hi all,

A little bit more done yesterday and today. Tail gate and spare wheel door on and fits pretty well. Progress is looking good.



I'm going to attack the doors tomorrow, however I am a little hesitant as I don't want to buckle or stretch the things when I plate them, specially the outer skin. Advice in this area would be appreciated.

Nice work.

MAke sure your patches fit with minimal gap and tack evenly making sure to keep heat down.  As a rule of thumb (or hand)  I always makes sure the panel is kept cool enough to touch with your hand.. if you can't it's too hot, and you will prob get distortion. 

seems to work for me.

 Got to be happy with it. Drivers side door is done and fits the gap beautifully. Here it is thus far.







And the site manager and apprentice had to feature some where as well.





Now the left door to be done. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Left door done now. What a nerve racking experience that was. Glad it's done though. The doors were  probably the hardest part to do. Rear quarters to do then slap some paint on it and let it sit for a bit. Pics

 Hi all,

Bit more progress over to last few weeks.

Looking at chrome dash bits and white Steering wheel.





Also put some colour on the roof. It's amazing how much one can't see until it's a bit brighter. I thought I had it nice and smooth. Oh well, it's fun.







Sun visor also copped a little colour.



And both doors are swung as well.

Put the visor on the ute painted the dash in mat black. Came up OK. May even change the colour of the car. Black and White. So simple.
