As sent to me by newman -
Quote
FE that is now for sale in Tumut NSW, the Vin details are:
FE225  23709  S
Trim  6-710A0
Paint 256-7467
The contact number for the owner Pat is 0269473139, when I spoke to Pat again today he told me that he did put a battery in the car yesterday and it did start up alright so it could be driven up onto a trailer for transport. I had another look and the floors, sills and subframes and they appear to be good as does the boot. The visible rust is in the drivers door skin and  top of rear wheel arches, it has all the chrome trim and has a set of Nasco wheel trims in the boot, the rear seat is in the car but it has the strange looking buckets in the front. Pat wants $1000 for the car please direct any questions to Pat by phone thankyou.

Interesting single colour 'Maize Cream' car with some later enhancements.
I think the trim code is 5-710
The chassis number would be useful.

Of more interest is the trim, Black and Toucan yellow - THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN.  Would love a photo of the rear seat and door trim for my collection. Has confirmed my thoughts that the seat in Siggy's car was Black and Toucan Yellow as the door trims in this car look white similar to the seat in Siggy's car.
I wonder if the material was ever more yellow than this and has faded?

Thanks to all who rang,Pat rang this afternoon to tell me that the car went to Penrith this morning. He asked that I thank all who inquired and was suprised to get calls as far away as Cairns. (Sorry Ken I didn't get the chance to get those pictures of the interior for you).

Mick

I know its not FE/FC related but when he wants to sell the EK he has I'll let you know.

Penrith, eh?  Shocked

I wouldn't mind betting you might still be a chance of getting that photo, Ken Wink

I think the marketing people at GMH did a swap here with trim & paint names

If they marketed the colour of the car as Toucan Yellow Shocked  back then I don't think it would have had many takers (not that it appears there were to many done in that colour anyway)

The description Maize Cream better suits the trim, which is basically black & cream

I only have 2 other recorded 225's in Maize cream, these were from an old dealer record book and they did not list trim number, so I never saw these cars and they most likely don't exist now.  I have quite a few Maize cream standards recorded as well as 14 utes recorded (looks like a popular colour for utility)
But the standards and utes had green interiors.

Overall a rare car and finding a new set of numbers makes my day  Kiss Kiss

At a mixed business in Toowoomba  I worked at for 5 years from the early 60 the foreman in charge of the electrical workshop had an FE the same colour.  From memory it was the only one of that colour I had seen around town.  Keith

It sounds like it needs the triples, Jack Myer headers etc treatment. Then it could be christened the Toucan Screamer.

Sorry, just getting in before Spinner Tongue

Ken,

I have a Maize Cream Standard FE sedan but it has a red interior and the roof was painted a pale green by the dealer. Two sisters owned it from new until they died, and their nephew said the roof was always green. Looks a bit weird with the red interior.

I'd be inclined to paint the roof back to Maize Cream, the red interior would look fine then, nice looking example Robin, do you have any more pics of this one? Does it run / drive

I'm intrigued with the black painted interior on the Tumut car, I am pretty sure the car had factory black and yellow interior. Most one colour specials had a 2 tone interior and it would make sense for this car to have black with the yellow since the interior trim is black and yellow. However the black roof and rear quarter flash are done later (probably by a dealership) and I must say they are an inspired choice in how well they suit the car.
This car would look stunning with a detroit kit. In black of course.

When I saw the post for this old girl I rang Pat & spoke with him about it, he gave me an honest description so I decided to buy it, sight unseen,& for what it cost I am not dissapointed.

I have never clapped eyes on an FE in this colour combo before & although I have seen a club FC Wagon (Canberra) in similar or the same colours.

It starts & runs, almost had enough puff to get up the ramps onto the car trailer so I winched it on the rest of the way. It's a complete car, has uplift springs and a towbar, sunvisor & a set of woolies dress trims! at some stage it had an aftermarket heater & radio but these are missing

Apperently it has been sitting around for a while, it has surface rust on the roof, the front seat is missing (see parts wanted section) rust in a couple of doors & some in a wheel arch but the sills, floors, subframe, rails & boot all appear ok

A fairly unevetful trip home, Pats neighbour (Thanks Chook?) tied it down for me (he's a truckie) and it stayed tied up till I got it home, thanks also to Newman & Stinky for putting the for sale add & pics up.

Cheers, Gary

Nice buy Gary.
The Maize Cream FE's with PVC trim, all had red trim
All the Maize Cream FE Special's with Elascofab Trim, had Black & Toucan Yellow trim.
I would like to have a close look at the Black & Toucan Yellow trim one day.

Great pick up Gary.  I looked long and hard at the for sale advert and was very tempted.  I then drove to Melbourne and back last weekend - at every sign post for Tumut I was thinking about this car, and wondering what else was down a side road in the countryside.

I look forward to seeing it in the flesh some time.

Cheers

What a great pickup, Gary, well done. When I saw the ad I thought to myself that looks far too good for someone to pass up and judging by how quickly it was sold I was right.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing the car

Congratulations Gary

What a beautiful car.
Even though I own an FC, I'm beginning to wonder if the FE isn't the better looking model.
Just a thought, If you cannot find a front seat in the correct colours. Why don't you get an FE seat and have someone come out with their spray gun and
colour match it to the rear seat. They can change the colour of complete interiors so why not one seat.

No Fatboy, not in a givin away mood, Shocked talk soon, welcome to call in anytime David, Geoff, EffCee,

Your preaching to the converted Mike, even though an FC (BTE-638 single tone white) was my 1st car, I tend to favour the 1st of each model type, except in the case of FB-EK.

I will be tidying the car up a little, put a proper front seat in it, yes, may have to consider painting one up if I can't locate a correct one, replace bonnet cable, water pump, etc maybe have the roof bead blasted & undercoated, at some stage will need to attend to the off side doors & wheel arch.

Thanks all, Gary
