I had a interesting conversation yesterday whilst getting final Engineer Report on "MR FC" according to the engineer  looks like NSW will follow suit with QLD and all cars that are modified after the new rules come in later in the year will wear a MODIFICATION PLATE attached usually in the engine bay with all the details of the Modification of that vehicle ,any one heard this?Huh..........FC427.......

Oh, for a second there I thought you were talking about concessional rego for modifieds.

The Vehicle Compliance Certification Pilot Scheme (VCCPS) has been running for a while now. If you do a search for "ICV" on the RTA website you'll find a bit of info about it.

i can't see a problem with it, the rules aren't being changed, only downfall being having to stick another plate/tag under the bonnet

A couple of potential problems with this approach.

1) You car gains an identity as a modified vehicle.  That means that you cannot return it to original specifications if you want to in the future.

2) The data plate shows the exact configuration of the vehicle, as inspected on the day.  You will not be able to alter the vehicle without another engineer's inspection.  An example might be that you present the car for inspection with a hot red + two barrel carburettor.  At some later date, you decide to split the two barrel carby to two single barrel or even triple carbies.  If you do so, your car will be different to the details on the plate, so it will be an illegally modified car.

When you present your vehicle for engineering inspection, you'll need to have it in the most basic configuration that you may want.  An example: fit your car with stock rims and a particualr size of tyre.  That will then be the minimum that you can have, similar to a modern car with a tyre placard.

that's pretty much how it is anyway except it's written on a peice of paper that's suposed to be in the glove box
as to putting it back to stock there's not much you can do to early holdens with out doing irreversable mods

 Hi All,

My FE Wagon has worn the Modification Plate since March 6 this year. It was engineered for
Seat Belts , Disc Brakes , 14" wheels and a reduction in seating capacity (6 to 5 ).
It wares the plate ( a computer generated one) proudly in the Engine bay Left side. I still have to have the paper work in the glove box as well.
