Hi Everyone, My husband (EffCee.. obviously) joined the FE - FC forum not long ago and has some how managed to get me (some one not really interested in cars) interested! by dragging me into the computer room every time he reads a funny/interesting blog, and wanting to sharing it with me. Now he's cranky with me for overtaking the computer & his forum name to reply to blogs I've read, so he decided to set my own up.

I had a great time reading FCCOOL's post and seeing all the pictures along the way. Wow he's got some stamina! Can't wait to see the end result.

There is so much to read and boy, talk about time wasting/interesting.. could sit here for hours, so does hubby (thus my fear of not getting the "project" started  Smiley)

Although I'm not really a car person I still have an appreciation for nice old cars, and the time and effort that goes into fixing them up. Probably won't really be much help to my ex mechanic husband (who unlike me knows what he is doing under a car) I will be doing my best to help him along the way, by not nagging  Cheesy (that's my contribution to the project - although it comes with time limits  Cheesy)

Looking forward to checking out all the other topics and posts and seeing what keeps everyone busy. Hubby tells me there is lots to do with the FE-FC club and joining in on regular meetings and events. I missed his recent first meeting as I was away in QLD for a few days with the kids, but looking forward to meeting/chatting with people as i keep you up to date on the "real progress" of hubby's projects (guess I won't have much to say for awhile) hubby's wonderful and I love him dearly, but..... well lets just say I'm sure will be updating on the same project in many years to come... Grin   cheers.. Sandra

Hey Sandra.
Welcome to the forum.
It becomes addictive so be careful.
Lots of great people on the boards and also in the clubs.
You can get to see many places you didn't know existed if you join in on the runs.

hmm. Thanks Alex. I'd love to be able to join in on the runs but are there many people that join in on the runs and don't actually have an FE or FC up and running, cause I think ours will be awhile.. Cheesy

I think you could go to the meeting place and i am sure you could get a lift - then you'll know what you'll be in for at the end of your wiat.

I only wish I could join in some of those runs.

The club here does a run every Sunday to the newsagents, at mimimum, and back and all Irish members religiously join in.....

First big show is next Sunday, so time to get the polish out.

Hi Sandra,

Welcome on board.  You and Keith are more than welcome to join in on all the club runs, driving whatever you get along in.  We have members with cars in various stages of repair, and projects that are not yet on the road.  So people come along in what they can, sometimes their modern every day driver - and that is fine.

Our next outing is a lunch at Shaw's Vineyard at Murrumbateman.  Its a relaxed day and a great chance to meet and chat with people.  Its a social day rather than a day focussed on the cars, so aim for that one maybe.  Sunday June 22.

If you any questions don't hestitate to send me a private message.

Cheers
David

Hi sandra, welcome to the forum Cheesy
i put my partner sonia under similar "pressure" to read posts and messages on this site to try and help her understand and appreciate what i was / am going through and it has helped a great deal. she is not a car person though does have a soft spot for 70's american muscle cars and now she has a greater appreciation for what goes into the build of a car.  when i first bought my car home she nearly had a heart attack and asked what the **** have i got myself in to Undecided Undecided Undecided.

that was 5 years ago and she has seen me go through many stages and emotions, even to the point of wanting to abandon the project, but she has always been there for me. now as the project is getting close to completion she is getting excited, not just for me but she is really looking forward to riding in "bubbles" this is the name she christened the car with.
and regarding your concern over support or not being able to help keith along the way, forget it, all you need to do is just be there for him. i ask sonia for her opion as to what looks good or if this modification suits and she confesses that sometimes she doesnt know what shes looking at from a mechanical point of view but she does provide that different perspective and this has helped me make some valuable changes

when i reach a milestone or have done something to the car i am proud of she will come down to the shed and see what i have done, her reaction and words of encouragement keep me going that extra hour. she brings me down a coffee, or lunch when she can, and suprises me at the end of a long day with a cold beer or bourbon and a pat on the back. knowing how keith works, i am the same, once i start i get involved and forget to eat or drink.

we are not members of the club, though will be joining soon. one of the main reasons i havent joined up is because i dont have a running car, in know some may think this silly but thats me Tongue when we attend shows i look at the car from its modification or restoration point of view and she loves the paint colours Grin Grin

FCCOOL is doing it tough without a garage to work in and this has been very motivational not just to me and others on this site but has shown sonia what others are up against, and how just they keep going. cause they can see that the destination outweighs the journey.

cheers
dean

and the one thing that makes sonnie happy with me in the shed is that it gives me something to do, and more importantly keeps me out of her hair and out from under her feet Grin Grin Grin Grin

Welcome "officially" to the site in your "own right" Sandra.

Whether you think so or not you, out of everyone on the forum, probably has the most connection to FC's! But the less said about that the better!  Shocked

Very highly unlikey that this leopard will ever change it's spots!

Oh, unless we're talking hair colour - now that's a different matter! After all, John says it's cheaper than a new wife for him everytime my hair changes colour - and he should know! Wink

Sorry about a few of us stealing your thread there Sandra!

I agree with a lot of the guys, you are helping Keith should go along to some of the outings before the car is finished - it will give you more a taste of what is to come and will help enthuse both of you to stick to that Xmas deadline!!! Aaaah, "memory for detail powers" being used for evil purposes!

ha.. you guys are funny Grin, this is good!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  Smiley

Hi David, the trip on June 22nd sounds good, we might try and make that one. Good to know we wouldn't be the only ones with out an FC etc, but would be great to see some of the other nice old cars that people are driving.

Dean, you two sound so much like me and Keith.. it's so funny that you mention Sonia likes you to have things to do in the shed cause it gets you out of the house and out of her hair, cause I only said to Keith the other day, that at the very least him having a project to work on in the shed will allow me to have a bit of time out to myself, just to do me things, without feeling guilty that I'm not focusing on him (glad I'm not the only one to have those thoughts from time to time) Smiley I must admit I do like to sneak out and see what he is up to from time to time (and not just to check up on him that he is actually working!) It's good when he explains what's what and what goes where, though don't know that I'll ever make much of an assistant to him cause I get confused with the difference between a spanner and a screwdriver  Grin. The other day I was in our ensuite and the second FC Keith brought home is parked up the side of our house next to the ensuite window (yes great view... not) anyway I looked out the window and here's Keith resting up against the FC peering into it, like it's the greatest thing in the world (he'd gone out to put rubbish in the bin and got side tracked). Watching him just standing you could see the love in his eyes...(for the car)!!

I'm really looking forward to Keith getting the FC started and watching the progress being made. Although I'm not a huge car person I do like the look of the FC's and I get excited at Keith's excitment. He has a lot of good idea's and I look forward to seeing them come together, my problem is I like everything done yesterday, I'm impatient... yes I admit it.... so I'm hoping it won't take as long as my fears are telling me it will take  Grin. Saw a photo of a car that had been sandblastered the other night and it looked great, well at least compaired to the rusted photo. Can't wait till keith gets that done to his, then it will be like a clean slate ready to go!! i've noticed a lot of people have photo's of their cars attached to their forum name, but I think I might wait awhile till Keith gets a bit done, then take a photo to attach to my name, alternatively I could attach a photo of my nice sleek black f....d RX6, but that might just be asking for trouble  Grin

Thanks for the welcome!

thanks sandra, sonia does enjoy "her" time and apart from the time to time frustrations this is quite good for our relationship. we get to do our own things but are still close and we share each others enthusiasm for our projects and passions.

now a word of caution but dont get alarmed my car when i bought it was dubbed the melenium falcon, cause it looked like an old grey hulk, not much potential, but we all know how good that little spacecraft turned out to be in the star wars movies ( 3,4 & 5  Wink )
i had the idea and dream of a 3 week turnaround nice coat of paint and then drive it. 5 years later it still hasnt seen the road mainly because as i learn more ( im not a mechanic) i change ideas and make improvements on things i did earlier.
it has now turned into a long term project and still has the support of my wonderful girl. time and money & other prioities in differing stages of our life has seen to that.
it is honestly in these latter stages of completion that i can truly see how a project that was once to be so simple takes so many years to complete. it all depends on how fussy you really want to be.

and as far as atttaching a photo to your name, all i did was to sit dowm with a photo and play with the colours in photoshop, actually the colour that appears on my avatar is something that just happened it was never planned. as soon as i saw the purple i knew that was the colour. send me your colour ideas and i'll be more than happy to knock something up for you Cheesy
i forgot to mention in my previous post that kieth was one of the champions who answered the call for assistance to help me out and the help will be returned whenever he needs it, i honestly cant think of any other sport or pastime that can bring people from all over the country together such as bringing part of australias herritage back to life, if not with physical assistance but more so with words of encouragement and motivation.

sonia has seen that look many a time too, she has caught me just sitting in the garage with the dog just looking at a car in pieces or on stands, nothing more just looking and knowing that one day it will be mobile. Grin Grin Grin
