Since we got over the house and knee renovations (not in that order of priority) progress has resumed. Making the "red" fit like GM had fitted it and looking period correct requires a bit different approach. However, once I stopped worrying about cutting up a one family owned matching number treasure I was alright.
The designer instructions are it has to leave the shed looking just it went in. We brought the late 50s early 60s cal custom rocker covers over from the US about ten years ago and now we have the perfect project. I couldn't believe it when the rocker covers came back from the polisher. Yes the white walls may not last quite as long and fox tails don't like going over 60mph so we may have an issue.
As Kathi said it will still has "three on the tree". I notice the photos included how I have made the T700 work through the original FE column shift. I hope this helps anyone who would like to have four speed auto through the column with a rack and pinion. The parts for the conversion are not exotic or that expensive but there are a "few" hours making it work. If you have a little bit of patience, are handy with file and welder you should be fine. The only bit of EK auto column is the chrome indicator and even that is not necessary so you can leave those columns to EK owners and use the money to buy a cable and lever.

Not at the moment. Work has been hectic & weekends have focused on revamping the garden & spending a lot of time over bubbling pots - you got a problem with that Jack? mid October should see a return to ' normality'

spending a lot of time over bubbling pots - you got a problem with that Jack? [/quote That could conjure up all sorts of (unwarrented, of course!) images , but I know what you mean and it's a perfect excuse for no updates...

You suckhole Jack! Sorry but still no progress. 2012 vintage is complete, we had a week off for a trip to Victoria and since we've been back we're still working on the revamp of the front yard - yep it's big! Got a new diff to go into the van before Bright and then work should resume on the FE.

Almost forgot, been getting in a few last bits in for the rebuild. My new hubcaps have arrived and John ordered me a new set of white walls for my birthday present! Yay! Happy girl!

My new hubcaps have arrived hmmmm..... Given your penchant for the hubcaps on both the car and van, I'd just have to assume that the new ones are of the same type... Different rims??? Or are the old ones damaged/out of shape etc and liable to to fly off into the scenery when more than 70 hp is transmitted through them?

When you're on a good thing, stick to it my dear Jack! But I am a female and, as such, it's my prerogative to change my mind. That is, unless I don't want to or........ I have a choice. Oh oh "choice" that's a bad thing for a female who's also happens to be a Libran!

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.
