Well,in a totally unexplained and unexpected turn of events...I have an update for you! After some debt consolidation during the greater part of the day I managed to wander out to the shed and got a bit done.

Got the left front guard sound deadener on

Then got it's first 5 coats of colour on.Looks like I've still got it....whatever "it" is.......

Admittedly got these done a while ago but first chance I've had to show them.Have fitted the stainless to one and hopefully get the rest done soon. You would not believe how good it felt to get a couple hours on the FC again!Am trying to factor all my "new house and new daughter" obligations in around a project I started over FOUR! years ago.More soon.

This is the one I have been using throughout the build, got it from the paint supplies place where I bought all my Protec stuff. The gun screws into the top and makes it a very convenient way to apply it.

Cheers.Jamie.

that's good sound deadener, we use to use it inside hydraulic hammers on excavators to make them more quite and it worked very well, knocked about 20db of the sound, doesn't sound like much but 20db when you up around 140-150bd without it, it good stuff,

one thing i can say about it, is dont spray it to thick as it will peal, just one even layer, and it will last.

very nice build and good detailed pics as well,

Have had a bit of a tinker over the last couple of weeks. After struggling with the panel stands to find a successfull position for a front guard to rest while painting I eventually cracked the sh*ts and made up a panel specific frame for holding the guard while painting (and rubbing back and possibly even panel beating I guess) which allows me to get the exact angle for painting in order to reach all areas easily and without any of the paintable part of the guard touching the stand. It also works on both guards just by flipping it over.Very basic and lazy I know and considering I have already painted these guards several times already using the panel stands...Also have the engine assembled and ready for paint.Need to make up some specific hold downs for the inlet and exhaust manifolds as they are an odd size and the thickness of the two are different.Have tried the originals and they just don't work.

Sorry it's not much,hopefully more soon.Cheers,Jamie.

I had this problem too Jamie, from memory, I ground down one side of the longer exhaust thingoes and for the ones with just a bolt and washer I think I used the small square red motor ones and did the same with those.

Be sure to get your exhaust and inlet manifolds shaved flat

I like the "Transformer" guard stands very neat

Keep up the progress!

Oh yeah....I did this too....

Still needs plenty of refinement ie fuel lines and rocker cover hold downs and needs a bit more detail but will have to do for the time being.I hunted high and low for a set of bright blue spark plug leads as I know how much everyone loves them (especially Stinky!)but no luck so I'm sticking to the black ones. Tongue More soon.

Hey thanks guys.I decided to paint the manifold mainly because I am of the opinion that unless I spend a fair amount of money having it professionally polished it will never look the way I want it to and it almost blends it into the the original "theme" of the car. Both carbs now have rebuild kits in them and the paint is 2 pack so hopefully it should be a little while before I "regret" painting the manifold... Huh

pictures look good but looks better in the flesh  Grin.   I see you got a bit more done. The 2 pack should take any seapage/leakage.
