I would be interested to find out when my FE ute was built and if the numbers sound right.Ive heard it had had a major front collision during its life and ii has been resprayed Bretton? blue.

From the details you've provided, I can tell you:

  • It's an 1957 FE Ute
  • Manufactured and assembled in Melbourne
  • Originally Breton Blue


Guru Ken can probably give you a better estimate of the manufacture date than I can, but can you double-check that engine number?  If it's original, it should start with L, and I would expect it to be in the range of L325000 - L415000.

Geoff, I would agree with your info re a major frontal.
The chassis is wrong for your car
Body number 2922 is Aug 57 - this would be the correct date for your car if the ID plate does not look like it has been removed from the body.
Chassis number 26380 is June 57
The chassis number for your car should be around 39000M
The engine number is from an FX Holden
