Can anyone tell me what the rules are if you buy a used car in NSW. and bring to a new home in Vic. ?

I can't speak for Vic rules, but in my experience with interstate transfers into NSW, its generally easier if the car is already registered, but if not the requirements aren't greatly different.

Whichever it is, you normally need a receipt for the purchase, plus the previous interstate rego slip, a third party insurance slip, an inspection slip - we call these blue slips in NSW and maybe a certificate confirming there are no encumberances on title.
