would anyone by chance know exactly how long a rear brake hose is, i have a hr rear, I need to do some running around tomorow morning and was going to stop in and order the rear hose if i get time, my old one was made of two joined together and was way to long, this hose will cost about $90 to get made in approved braided hose so it needs to be rite.
should i make it slightly, like 1/2 " shorter if the car is about 5" lower than standard?

Leon,
Ring/text me in the morning before you go shopping and I will measure and give you the length of the hose i used on my wagon. It is approved braided hose. My set up looks very much like yours. mobile 0409 532 334

Leon,
Flexible braided brake line on my wagon is 435mm end to end including fittings and my wagon is lowred 4 - 4 1/2 inches at rear.

Thanks greame, i run out of time, typical of a day with good weather for working on the car we have a family function today, i still got a little welding done this morning and now i have the length for next saturday.
there is a place around the corner called motorsport connections that makes them here, the fronts cost about $75 each, what did you pay for yours?

G'day Leon,
after reading progress of your rebuild, maybe you should move to ballarat - cant get it to rain here at all........
from memory mine cost around $45.00, but that was a few years ago. will check prices again here on monday and if cheaper than your price, i could get it made up here and mail it up to you.

Leon, would you consider a standard length rear hose?
Repco stock them to suit at about $39.
A fair saving I think.
I sourced front flexible hoses for $22 from ABS

are these hoses adr approved, they should have a approval number and a clear plastic outer over the braid, otherwise they are race only.

Leon,
I am not sure about the ADR approval.
I can confirm that the front flexible hoses I bought from ABS are a rubber/vinyl type outer coating. The ones they replaced looked original and were braided with no clear outer.
I'm picking up the rear hose this weekend, so have not seen it yet. The one that I am replacing looks like it is back from when Jesus was playing fullback for Jerusalum and has a rubber outer coating.
Still, I can't see a company like Repco selling a brake product that isn't ADR approved.

Leon, braided hoses to be legal don't need to be clear. they only need the little yellow sleeve on it I think, and have had the necessary whip test performed on them to test the strength of the joint between the line and end fitting. (not each individually tested of course). on my bikes i use Goodridge or HEL lines. you can get braided line in all colours too. also try http://www.johnstamnas.com.auhttp://www.braided hose.com.au your local ENZED can make the hoses to ADR spec too. forgot to mention, we have a pain in the but law in nsw, the guy at the shop says its not really known if the plastic helps but its required, he could do uncovered quicker and cheaper but he said they were race only and i would be at risk if i was pulled over, worse thing is it takes some of the braided look away.

I wouldn't use uncovered line.
sand and grit would get caught in the braid and start abrading the line.. slowly but surely it would break.

To be legal, braided lines must have the following;
Crimp style fittings - not screw type
Plastic cover over the steel braid, these can be coloured.
ADR number on the hose somewhere, either the plastic cover or on the plastic end fittings
Stamp identifying the manufacturer and guaranteeing the correct pressure test.
