I've just been looking around City of Sydney website archives and came across some nice old pics.... it's surprising how many old Holden were around in 1958-60!

http://www2.photosau.com/cityofsydney/scripts/home.asp

This is a shot of the corner of Oxford and Bourke Streets...

Elizabeth Street with an FE taxi...

Macquarie Street...

General shots...

Town Hall....

... and I almost thought I found a photo of Dick Thomas' FC.... not quite though... Wink

Cheers
Les....

i guess they may have been telling the truth when they said 50.9% of the market.
I wonder if that is my FC wagon about to have a head on with the tram in the top pic.

Hi Les
Thanks for the great collection of photos.

I think they were all relatively new back then, and in an FE FC enthusiasts eyes may even represent "HEAVEN" and the after life.

Cheers Jim

Hey Les,

They're fantastic photos.  I thought the same thing (Dad's car!) as that photo of the sedan with the BZA license plate appeared.

That ute with the two blokes sitting in the back has a license plate only 40-odd earlier than Alex's blue/white FC (the one that was stolen).  It was BPK-817.

Sooner or later one of these pics is going to turn up a familiar car. How cool will that be?

cheers

Look at the chaos in that 1st photo!  No traffic lights, no signs, just a free-for-all. He who pushes in the hardset gets to go first.  Imagine the scene today.
Love the 2 guys in the back of the ute.
Thanks for sharing

Interesting...

Even today it wouldn't be uncommon to find two guys in the back of a ute at the corner of Bourke & Oxford applying the rule...
