Hi i have a grey motor on a solid stand and want to start it, but not sure how to wire it up ,what connects to what ,two coil wires, two wires of alt, dis wire etc any ideas

If you have a spare ignition switch then mount this on the frame somewhere. Run heavy positive battery wire to the starter and heavy negative to a solid earth on the motor (eg generator mounting block).
Run a wire from battery to the bat terminal on the switch.
Run a wire from positive side of coil to ign terminal on the switch.
Run a wire from the small starter screw to the sol terminal on the switch.
The black wire should still be in place from the negative side of the coil to the distributor.
Don't worry about wiring up the generator.
Turning the ignition to start should now fire it up
