Hi everyone I have an excellent fe/FC front crossmember with everything attached steering linkages , drums etc it has been painted believe powder coated looks a great complete unit to have for any front end parts that maybe needed down the track am based in Sydney Cronulla 2230. Looking at $300 as am sure is a complete assembly that could be bolted straight up. Hoping there is some local Sydney members willing to come out and check out the beach and my front end assembly at the same time. This is a great original spare front end assembly to put away for the future. Thanks for interest. Contact details: Roachy ph: 0411292662

Hi everyone went cruising on weekend, clocked up couple hundred miles plenty of freeway cruising only issue was the wife complained of a headache and the smell of fumes on her clothes by the end of the day other than that she went like a dream. Mmmmm should have windows down more , but was bit cool Guessing fumes maybe from crank case breather pipe on the old grey and perfectly normal experience on the long runs Cheers living the dream Roachy

Technical Board / Modification Help / mmmmm what to do seatbelts
|
on: January 21, 2015, 01:36:36 PM

installing seatbelts firstly my FC is already BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED original pillar bolt hole on outside has been blanked off when restored by previous owner when original seatbelts were removed. Internal pillar bolt holes are still there covered by a small grab handle. I have full rego and am re-installing seatbelts. what to do I have pillar bolt in hand but something is telling me don't . So cut a slot low in the pillar to install internal nutplate or go easy way & re-instate external pillar bolt like was done in the old days. I know the external pillar bolt is not ideal strength wise but 100% better than the No seatbelts I have now. I am reluctant to make slot in pillar for nutplate access, only because will require welding up disturbing beautiful internal paintwork on pillar. I know leaving the slot not welded up is not really an option either. I am sorry because I guess I already know what majority would say is to do the job properly not worrying about paint and spend the extra time putting in slot hole to gain access for nutplate. thanks for your feedback.

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Pillar bolt location for seatbelts

Thanks Ken interesting to here about the old style belts Member also suggested a system that may have used two bolts, using the lower as the fixing point, with the upper being a loop that the belt went through to give the angle over shoulder like how modern cars use this system were retractable is mounted lower & upper is adjustment for height. Thanks everyone.

Technical Board / Modification Help / Pillar bolt location for seatbelts
|
on: January 07, 2015, 11:15:18 AM

Hi everyone thanks for any feedback My FC has two pillar bolt holes on each pillar which I thought was a mistake when retro fitting seatbelts until reading another member describe the same & seeing footage of a early Holden showing two pillar bolts on each pillar , can anyone enlighten me of reasoning, has anyone else come across this, is this just a mistake? I do plan on re-instating seatbelts using the upper location for piece of mind when wife & grandson traveling. Thanks Glenn(roachy)
