As i was nervous about parking with vent window obviously open , i thought id give some  Areldite epoxy adhesive  to stick back on until i find a suitable replacement part 12. support 10.660  ( eeeek)

surprising to know this is working even under the natural strain of the locked vent , not a long term solution but at least i can take her out for drive.

Hi Forum,

It been a while since being on this forum as my FC has been in storage for 4 years ! , Finally the ol girl is back with me in the newly built garage !

SO ...Im embarking on a few little things that need doing , now that she sits within walking distance its much easier to get some momentum

One thing that is doing my head in and I've been stalking the forum and the internet with not much joy, the vent window handle on the passenger side had fallen off , but i cant for the life of figure out how to put it back on , i have  NOS replacement handles with spring and button and pin , but i feel something has snapped of on the chrome window frame part , worst fear is having to get a whole new frame Assembly.
I haven't quite worked out how to put photos on hear yet  , but if anyone has a photo of what it should look like or some advise , it would be great .
a little nervous as its definatley a security issue

Hi forum,

Just took the old gal out for a run after 6 six months in storage, ran like a beauty as usual until when I reached about 60 Kms then backed of accelerator there was what I can only describe as a drum roll (rata Tata tat) noise from underneath ,quite loud and concerning.

Checked under after and can't see anything out of the ordinary.
Has any one had similar and might know where to look.

I was just wondering if anyone recognises where/what the attached photo door pull handles come from,i only have one and are chasing another 3.
I seem have seen about 5 different types on FC lately, help would be much appreciated!

Finally the big day arrived, looking great for the day!
A real Head turner!

I used a putty knife , wrapped the knife with masking tape to avoid scratching, prying up every few centimetres and worked my way along.... pops out quite easily .

Those guys are the best, i wouldn't trust anyone else to mess with my Sunday!
Not a Member as yet.... managed to make it in the Rain to the vic nats at Moorabbin airport a few years back for some inspiration as an on looker.
will get around to it someday.  Any FC shows /events coming up this year??

Thought io woyuld get around to posting the progress of my soon to be Wedding car.
When i got this ol girl, about 4 years ago,the interior was shot,bench seat destroyed but the rest was in pretty good nick.
Original rego, which has been paid for 53 years now, (should have free rego for life)
Colour acording to code - India Ivory /Crystal Blue
it had holes in the roof from where the sunvisor was , a trailer plug screwed to the rear,
not the origial motor- has now a 138 from an EJ i assume? and had always been garaged .
I am the 3rd Owner and the second owner had it for 1 year.
So I was torn weather to restore to original or Mod... SO i had a compramise.
I am slightly "doing up" it to what my dad would have done in the 60's
Saying that i have all the origial bits and peices to go back.
So my aim is to-
Deep dish rims -Done
Slightly lower front and back- yet to be done
Install Carpets and underlay- Done
Twin stromys and extractors- Yet to be done
Tint windows- Yet to be done
New Paint- 80% done

Everything else is stock including brakes etc.

The only thing i am changing ( and purists will cringe)
is that i have changed the color of the Dash from Crystal Blue to India Ivory( reverse of original)
The main reason i am doing this is I have always had my heart set on a India Ivory over Red ,
I Doubt i will ever get to get my hands on this so in years to come i may Paint it that way.
Personally i like the white dash anyway.
Here are some flicks if it works

Wow fella, looks like you had a badly worn joint and the constant excessive movement has done its magic. Looks like passenger side so would be idler arm (non steering box side) and the drag link tube has been ripped out! (I am no steering expert), but this type of thing would have occurred whilst backing out and catching a wheel on left while reefing right on steering perhaps? Or hitting a curb or big hole? I'd be interested if you could tell us how it happened? You should check wear of other components immediately, often salt or road grime can eat at bolts or joint etc. This is nasty and I would not just drive it after fixing this particular part, you need to get an "expert" or trusted mechanic (It is obvious from your post that you are an amateur as you called the general steering assembly the "column"), but mate, you are playing with your life here so get it checked properly cos I am concerned for your safety thats all. looking at that the tube may have been corroded due to worn joint, so a combination of factors.

See the thick arm (bycycle crank one) that the tube bolts to via the joint, if ever using a car thats been sitting for long time or your new to a car and wanna do a quick safety check, get under, get someone to hold steering straight and grab it and pull different directions. There should be "NO MOVEMENT" in this joint whatsoever (unless you have an xb falcon ha ha). I'd be interested to see from others whether this is a common thing with age on this vehicle?

Cheers mate, Its definitely the Pitman arm (drivers side) and the drag link is stuffed! I have never had an issue with steering after 10 or so Holdens over the years , so this is a new one,
How did it happen? Well its been at the Panel shop for three months and the apprentice moves it in and out of the shop (and 30 point turns) every day ....so.....its had more steering in three months than 3 years saying that it was good that it happened now.
Booked in at Dinkum auto early next year... Once again thanks Forum!!!
